Always worth ringing round, they very rarely advertise.

Make sure that you have business use on your car insurance, if you're delivering and you don't have it your insurance is invalid and your vehicle can be seized.

Starting a takeaway deliveries in January is not a good idea, you will give up on it quite sharpish as money is not good in Jan and Feb, and can be disheartening, but if you stick with it, things get better.

I find tips are quite good, build up a friendship with customers when you deliver to them,as soon as they open the door say good evening, if your not very busy have a quick chat with them and always be polite, even if they don't give you a tip, say enjoy your meal, they remember that and next time you will get a tip.

Most of all like thedr says, you must have business insurance, as far as I can remember I have never been stopped whilst at work, but I know if I cancel the business insurance sod's law says I will get stopped, it's just not worth the chance.

Print out your name and contact details, and go around all the takeaways and let them know your looking for a delivery driver job and give them your contact details, you can almost guarantee you will get a call.

Good luck.

Domino's in Birkenhead take drivers on all the time.
I work in the wallasey store but we have more drivers than we need and not everyone gets shifts every week.
Business insurance IS NOT NEEDED as Domino's have their own policy that covers you during working hours - this is only Domino's though, probably not the same at other take aways.
Rate is £6.31 per hour plus 70p per delivery ( 90p if you agree to have a Domino's light box on top of your car ) plus tips.
Not the best job in the world but it pays the bills - I've been doing it for about 18 months now.
Late nights and unsociable hours/shifts and it kills your car with wear and tear but on the whole it isn't that bad.
Better to have a small engined car to keep fuel costs down.

Hope this helps :-)
