Well it feels like I have been the last to hear, but I was offered a shift supervisor position for Morrison's this morning.

Really gutted that they didn't come back to me sooner, I have as some of you know been offered another job and I start next week. I did call Morrison's on several occasions due to the long delay and also to let them know I had another offer but they didn't seem interested.

I have also only been offered 17.75 hours and I did say I was after at least 20-25 to make it worthwhile. They have said they will need me for 39 hours a week at first until one week after opening, and would be required for more hours as and when the need arises but they can only guarantee 17.75.

I will weigh up both roles and see what would be better for me as I haven't signed any contracts with the new place yet.

Just wish they had come back to me a week or so ago, I wouldn't have even had to think about it I would have said yes!!

Just like to congratulate you for getting good news,, even tho you are in a predicament now,,you know what they say,, jobs are a bit like buses,,nothing, then they all come at once ;o) I'm sure whatever you decide will work out well for ya :O) good luck Debzy x

About the 17.5 hours thing, I used to work for ASDA and LIDL and both of them had us all on half time contracts but nearly everyone ended up working full time (or more) hours.

The nasty thing was though that on holiday you only got half the pay that you'd been used to.......

I guess you'll just have to weigh up the options and jump whichever way feels most right. Food to have the choice of 2 jobs at the present time laugh

Hi Sallybear

Just out of interest, is the job on checkouts as a shift supervisor? Just because I know that none of the shift supervisors taken on are given full time hours. They're all part time.

Oh that's a hard decision to make, I'm in a similar position as I've now been offered a job with morrisons for 21 hours but my current job is 26 don't get me wrong am over the moon about being offered the job but not sure it's worth a drop in my hours..... Oh decisions

Well done.

You need to weigh up the drop over a month
And figure out what is best for you.

It's a decision only u can make.
I personally cannot afford a drop in hours as
Much as I'd love too.

Good job on getting an offer though :-)

I know one company I worked for gave all the staff the smallest contracts that they could and they all did loads of overtime to make their hours up, then if employees were off sick or on holiday they only got paid on their contracted hours...sneaky!!

Naughty, or sensible thinking?

There are a lot of very experienced hard working woman out there, who having had children, and others male or female, who for whatever reason cannot go back to work full time, but who can go back part time.

Also it's far easier to find cover for a sick part timer than a full timer, especially when in a small work force.

Better to make full use of the available workforce than restrict yourself when you don't need too.
