It's not what you know ...
I remember working in a factory in 2000 and I got 18k, I've never had bad pay in the little spaces in factories since then.
its defo who you know thats why iam trying this way
surely minimum wage is better than no wage?..lots of people have to make do with that or a little over...me included!!!
Summer- at first i thought your post said you 'decorate dogs' lol. Er, you didn't, did you?

how much do people get on jobseekers allowance.....i sort of understand what your saying but i dont like it..in this day and age you should be willing to take any job rather than sit on the couch getting a gut((your words not mine).if one my kids had an attitude like that i would kick their arses down to the job centre.your last line says you will do any job,but obviously only as long as your getting 8 to 10 quid an hour.
Phalinmegob - its that attitude that will end up with the majority of the workforce living in poverty again, your forefathers have fought hard to get a good standard of living for EVERYBODY - to agree to work for a pittance is undoing all their good work. If you want to work for a £1 a day, then go and do it, but don't tell everybody else they should do it.

There are far too many people not members of unions, there are too many employers breaking the law left, right and centre. I can't believe how many employees are naive enough to believe they can trust their employer.

And before anyone starts Union bashing, consider the following ...
1. How many employers break the law?
2. How many employees are expected to break the law by their employers?
3. How many employers lie to their employees?
4. How many employers are unfair to their employees?
5. What was employement like before the unions!!!

We are gradually going backwards - we need to stop the decline, the more poverty, the more crime!
well unfortunatly i do not agree with that mentality, everyone is entitled to their own opinion i suppose.i am not telling anyone to work for a quid a day, all i am saying is that if he has no job and things are bad enough that he needs to ask for work on a web forum then maybe he should not discount any job that does not quite pay what he decides is the right amount and lower his expectations of what is available.lower his pride a touch and take a lower paid job instead of "getting a gut on the couch".hell i know all about employers and what they really think of their employees, been working for the same w****ers for over 20 years and am under no illusions that they care any more for me than they do for their pet dog.my argument is that a job that pays 5.75 an hour or whatever it is these days is better than sitting on the couch getting jobseekers(if he is!) that taxpayers are funding.
Everything all right in here?
everythings cool,if everyone had the same feelings and thoughts about the same topics, the world would be a very boring place lol.could you please change your avatar cos i am petrified of spiders lol
Just doing playground duty, Phal.

As for the avatar - I already got told to take it off FaceBook! But since you asked so nicely I'll change it. raftl Bored of it now anyway grin
it really is a bit sick
Do you have any objection to Fraggles?
no they are fine as long as they are not eating big hairy horrible spiders
Ok phalinmegob, but don't assume unemployed people are getting jobseekers - I am unemployed and I am entitled to sweet FA, despite putting way more than average into the system during my working life.

You have to be careful what appears on your CV, if you worked for "Greasy Joe's Pole Dancing Extortiona" how many jobs would that write you off from (even if you did enjoy it)?

If you negotiate your salary for your new job, if they know you have previously worked for min wage, where does that leave your bargaining power?

The basic problem is, if you take some steps down the ladder, it is even harder to get back up again.

I hear what you are saying, but I still think that there is a danger that it leads to "here's a penny now be thankful".

One major problem with min wage, that instead of being a minimum, it becomes the norm

example: many stay on min wage, whereas if there was no min wage they might get a pay progression - gizzus a payrise for my new kid boss, please.

That is why many left wing people are against it, even though min wage sounds like a left wing policy.
You don't look the greased-pole-dancing type DD think

You haven't seen me in my pink fluffy things though, have you!

Besides, I was thinking of quality manager, not performer!
Oh dear - I wish I hadn't mentioned pink fluffy things now.

a dont think men selling avon really works lol thanks anyway
betterware - sell to your family and friends - make them your enemies!!! Unless you get in early on these schemes, you don't stand much of a chance, the old pyramid structure.

I think avon have an avon-for-men range these days, if they look at my complexion and smell my armpits that should be a quick way to generate zero sales!
Scott used to do Kleeneze, he can probably offer advice for anyone looking into summit like that.

smile
thanks every one but am lookin more for manual labour a like to get me hands dirty but not with fake tan and make up unless its cos av got me hands all over a pretty lady lol
