Wallasey Central Children’s Library is about to celebrate its
100th Birthday

One of the first separate public libraries for children in the country, the library was opened during WW1 and survived being bombed in WW2, has been much loved by generations of Wallasey children and will reach its centenary in 2015.
Readers and Staff at Wallasey Library would like to invite children, library members – particularly those with happy memories of Earlston Road Library – and anyone who loves libraries to help us celebrate by …
Sending us a birthday card!

Please send a 100th Birthday card, as early in the year as possible, to
Wallasey Central Children’s Library
Earlston Road
WALLASEY
CH45 5DX

Please include a mention of a children’s book you have particularly enjoyed. Wallasey Children and their parents are sharing and enjoying books every day. They would love to hear from you.
Thank You!

Nice idea ..
Great! Will do that. When I was growing up Wallasey Village was my closest library, but I will help Central celebrate by sending a card.
Forgot to say - my favourite books (that I remember!) when small were 'Mary Plain' and 'Orlando the Marmalade Cat'. Anyone remember those?

My fave books a child were Enid Blyton books- all of them- famous5, Secret7- Mallory Towers (??) etc

Always been a reader. I love Books and I love our Historic library service.

My first memory of Wallasey Central Childrens Library was as a 1st year at Weatherhead High School (they call it year 7 nowadays)and we went as a Class to learn how to catalogue Books. How to rifle through those tiny drawers- to find what/ where books would be indexed.

....and there was TONS of Books, for me (much more than in my Branch).

I still get the urge to roll about the place (not literally-hypothetically- I do chuckle to myself) in Birkenhead and Wallasey Central Libraries-#BookPorn #LoveBooks

My favourite books were Milly Molly Mandy.
