Free communication and deaf awareness skills offered to local volunteers
Posted 17 January 2014 - 2:56pm
People who work as a volunteer in Wirral are being asked if they would like to take up free training to help them communicate with the communities they work with.

Wirral Council’s Lifelong and Family Learning Service, in partnership with Wirral Libraries, is offering a ‘Deaf Awareness and Communication Tactics’ course, aimed at developing the skills and confidence of volunteers so they can be more involved in their local communities and services.

So far, people working for Wirral Libraries, Children’s Centres, and Magenta Living have been through the training course, which is open to anyone over the age of 19.

A number of courses for volunteers are offered through the Council-run service, including a new Sports Buddy course aimed at members of the community who would like to get fit and volunteer to motivate others to do the same.
