Wouldn't go that far, we have all that in liscard/ birkenhead/ liverpool, it's only a pizza place and a crap pub full of wannabe gangsters, that will drive peeps out of newbrighton.
Posted By: Sneezy Re: New Brighton - 19th May 2012 1:38pm
Well I think it's come a hell of a long way compared to what it used to be.....now, don't have to traipse to Liscard, Birkenhead etc to have a decent meal out and a drink .....with spectacular views and it's only getting better smile
Just my opinion like smile

shame there will be nowhere on the prom that does decent food though whistle

Queens Royal ?
Posted By: arwen444 Re: New Brighton - 19th May 2012 5:39pm
had the most awful meal at the queens last saturday. the steak was like a dry flip flop and the banoffee pie we all sent back as it was inedible. not sure what was on the bottom biscuit or pastry but it could not be broken through. service was bad and there was only us in there! think they may have had a change of chef as its normal brill.
Posted By: Moonstar Re: New Brighton - 19th May 2012 8:16pm
With all these eating places popping up like weeds there is every possibility that good chefs are in short supply.

your easily pleased lol !!!
they pull down the largest outdoor lido in uk ,pull down a bigger tower than in blackpool and put the garbage complex they have there now in its place

new brighton is definately NOT THE PLACE TO BE if you ask me !!!

shame its gone from a super seaside resort to the joke it is now
Posted By: Sneezy Re: New Brighton - 19th May 2012 10:27pm
OMG!!!!!! people moan about unemployment yet when jobs are created they moan about the location you cant have your cake and eat it this is a massive opportunity for people to get back into work and earn some respect for themselves and yet your knocking them down even before they have started yeah New Brighton was once a amazing place to come (according to my grandma) but times have changed and with the north west creating so many jobs be thankful it could be your son/daughter who get one of these jobs not everyone is as lucky to have the right skills to get a very well paid job or even be lucky enough to own a business so get off their backs(pubs, pizza shops, cinemas) and be thankful that their creating the jobs for the youth of 2morrow

rant over

Here Here........not every one today remembers the "Good old days"....times have moved on, I used to come to New Brighton as a kid in the 60's and it was brilliant.....I loved the baths and the fair....but I now appreciate what it has/is becoming.
And yes I might be "easily pleased" I don't have much....but what I do have I
appreciate !!!
As for referring to Marine Point as a "garbage Complex".... Do one !!!... If you don't like it stay away.

I'm just starting a new life after 29 yrs of marriage and really starting to be thankful for what's around me !!
I used to live here with my Nan when I was about 5....so think I've had some sort of calling to come back to the place I was happiest in smile
I absolutely love it around here smile

It's not the same anymore.

It's all about fast cheap food at new York prices.

It's crap! There's nothing there anymore! I mean where the hell have the arcades gone? There's wilkies yeah but that place wouldn't know an arcade machine if it smacked them round the chops at 50mph, it's just full of CRAP fruit machines and CRAP dance machines.
What happened to the boats? Ghost train? What happened to traditional chippy food instead of the dry cack they serve down there these days?

Then there's the traffic wardens, great! Out there waiting in the bushes for their next victim, 10pm and you still see them floating around.

Then there's the racetrack! Jesus man, what have you fools done to it?

New Brighton became a joke when they gave us that hideous clown
Posted By: louise127 Re: New Brighton - 20th May 2012 9:16am
Totally agree, its looking really smart now, granted its not everyones cup of tea.......but if you dont like it....dont go "simples"
Posted By: Dilly Re: New Brighton - 20th May 2012 9:18am

The Council paid bugger all for it!! Most of the iferstructure was funded by Morrisons, if anything the Council made or at least saved money on the development.

Christ! what a negative lot you lot really are (with one or two exceptions) What we have is a cleaned up New Brighton which is already attracting visitors to the area to spend their money, people seem to rail against private enterprise and they don't want any public money to be spent yet they do expect a super resort with lovely facilities when they feel like a day out!! Well, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but you can't have your cake and eat it!

Wetherspoons and the rest may not be to everyone's taste but by God they'll make the rest of the watering holes/eateries down there pull their socks up!!

Onweards and upwards in my opinion, congratulations to all involved, keep up the great work!!

Oh yeah?

Well i'm sorry to "burst your bubble" (as you put it) but he was on about the damn clown NOT the joke of a supermarket.

On the other hand it is a lot cleaner down there smile

Carry on..... learn
Posted By: Dilly Re: New Brighton - 20th May 2012 11:48am
cheer's Ste' thought it was clear I was talking about the clown.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: New Brighton - 20th May 2012 2:51pm
It's lovely up here nowadays! If it was so bad then there wouldn't be all the people here today, a bit of sun and it's packed! Families playing on the dips, the supermarket is buzzing, The Light is amazing, the Derby Pool is always full and so is Brooklyns. I agree it will never be the resort it once was with the tower, ballroom, and outdoor swimming pool but it is trying to come back!
Give it a chance!

The 'Pierrot' was met with the same disdain being shown the later redevelopments yet it has become a well known landmark. By the way it was, in the main, paid for by European grants not by WBC. Just so as we have the record straight.....
Posted By: Dilly Re: New Brighton - 20th May 2012 9:23pm
Maybe from grants but why has there been nothing really done for kid's to enjoy ? sorry but they have been to busy with plansfor pub's casino's coffee bar's and so on. give the kid's something and more family orientated day's out may return.
Posted By: oneofthree Re: New Brighton - 21st May 2012 5:22am
I still don't get what it is you want!! There is bowling, a cinema, Laserquest, a (admittedly crappy) funfair, pitch and putt, tennis courts, family friendly restaurants, ice cream shops, rock shops and if you're on a budget the beach or the dips to just go and play on or perhaps fly a kite!! Really, honestly, if you can't find something to amuse kids in New Brighton on a sunny day you have very little imagination!!

The place that was supposed to be a fitness centre that nobody wanted to run will soon be a children's play area. In the meantime, how about a picnic on the beach & sandcastles?

Some kids have all that at home, not all kids are easily pleased.

I've read newspaper articles from the 1890s were the local residents complained that the new changes was ruining the idyllic charms of the local watering hole.

...and here we are.. some 120 years later...still complaining about the changes!!!
Posted By: Sneezy Re: New Brighton - 21st May 2012 7:14pm
I'm not complaining Paul.... Haha smile

doing a great job in new brighton. in just a few years ... cinema is really nice, theatre, morissons/HB, hotel, various eats incl chimichangas mexican opening , redone the watersports lake , new model boat lake & place for swans - its clean , modern and fresh down there with decent clientele and everythign is new. not used casino yet cant comment. with loads of free parking and a beach/prom. some people are soooo hard to please ! just needs a cool bar now not the cheesy crap on corner . NB is packed down there in car park. maybe one day we will get a petrol station lol. ok its not got the fair lido deckchairs and tower ballroom - but hey it has to start somewhere ! well done.
