Does anybody know someone who fixes lawnmowers? I'm not looking for a shop or anything like that just maybe someone who does it more of a hobby. Obviously pay but not too much as not worth it.maybe take a look and tell me if worth fixing. Got two dead mowers now,grrr... Thought before I tip find out.local to Rockferry/Bebington surrounding areas.Thanks.

I imagine more info on what is wrong would be useful. Electric, Hand or petrol?

Both electric Salmon. One is Flymo hover , hit a stone made a terrible racket then saw white smoke coming from motor..other one don't know what happened someone going to take a look at it see if something simple otherwise to tip and buy another.

Does not sound good Cools, sorry. Smoke from an electric motor usually spells the end of the line unless it is simply the carbon brushes but they would not normally cause smoke. Good luck with them.

Yes I agree with you Salmon, will have to bite the bullet and buy a new one and take more care, thanks.

just spent last Saturday servicing my 4 mowers but they were petrol. Silly question have you at least tried a new fuse in the plug? Have stripped a couple of electric garden things down but they don't tend to make them too diy friendly with soldered wire connections. Like others if a fuse doesn't sort it the next thing would be to just unscrew the starter lever (machine unplugged that is) and see if any loose or broken wires as they do fray where cable goes into starter handle. Beyond that I would scrap them.

Thanks Fish , someone is going to look at the one that just suddenly stopped as you say could be a simple fix , the smoking one that's a goner.
