Has anyone got John Lewis broadband ? It seems quite a good deal, and as I am fed up with Talk Talk, I was wondering if it's worth changing.
My phone line is with BT, and their prices are getting to criminal level.

John Lewis Broadband is provided by Plusnet plc.

have you checked plusnet for their prices. Free for 12 months. JLB only free for 6 months but slightly cheaper rate

Its a bit pointless joining JL broadband, it is only a badged package of PlusNet except with quite a few quid added on.

You would be considerably better off with combining your broadband and line rental, you must be paying close to £40 for something you can get from most providers at less than £25.

What is your problem with TalkTalk?

Yes, I was intending to do a package. Reason I had them separate was when TalkTalk was Virgin I did not have to comply to any contract for the broadband. So I can cancel at anytime. £17.00 per month. On top of that is BT line rental, and weekend only free landline calls. At the moment I'm paying around £80/85 per quarter for a hand full of calls. Daren't phone mobile numbers, would end up in debtors prison.

Talk Talk is constantly disconnecting and usually after midnight. It's happens around every 5 to 10 mins, and so annoying. I have told them today but don't expect much change.

Mainly looking for a cheaper option and thought JL (plusnet) seemed ok. although looking at plusnet line rental, there's not much difference to BT (if any).

BT own PlusNet, in any case line rental is much the same anywhere. The only way you can reduce line rental is by paying upfront (12 months for plusnet).

Talktalk's new offer is pretty good, £22.95 a month (18 month contract) for broadband and line rental combined but plusnet's free 12 month broadband makes their package cheaper for the 12 month contract.

If you get no joy with talktalk's telephone call-centre go onto their community forums, the team there are pretty good at sorting things out when india/hong-kong/pakistan have failed - if it wasn't for them I would have left talktalk years ago, unfortunately you have to go through the nause of the call centre first and give them the opportunity to fail.

It's all like gobble-de-gook to me. I get so confused, but you have made it fairly plain to understand DD, thanks.
These call centres seem to be the pain in everyone's life, more by design than bad management I imagine.
Since beginning to write this short response, it's dropped out twice , just comes up with 'no connection' same every night and it started at 20mins past midnight same as last night and the months of nights before.
I will have a look at what you and Fish have put forward. Thanks to both.

Get cable from virgin if you want speed. I've found their service pretty good too, although I haven't had to use it a lot.

Agree regarding Virgin cable speed 50 meg and £28 per month no line rental use free minutes on Mobiles. Good reliable fast service.

Talktalk fibre £27/month including free mins and free data sim.

I wondered why they had this offer. They must be chasing Virgin.

It's unlimited use on Virgin too, so you don't have to worry about exceeding limits like you do in some cases.

One other thing, if you've been with them a while you can call them up and complain about the cost and you'll get a loyalty bonus too, with a bit of luck.

Maybe I should ask for a further reduction for advertising them here!
