I'm serious thinking of decluttering

I have lots of books not new (dictionaries, encyclopedias, guiness books of, fiction (sci-fi and horror).
sorry keeping local history books
I don't want to take them to the tip and think most of the charity shops nowadays seem to want nearly new to sell

any suggestions what to do with them
Would hospitals take them or libraries (maybe the hard backs)

Lots more stuff to go to put on later

Feefo rates this company https://www.webuybooks.co.uk/?gclid...U67gUlUiRzbBJKy4hhbWARfb7N01MxoCPDXw_wcB

They can either send you the money , or send it to charity . Can see beforehand the value of ISBN you type in to see if its worth your bother. Not used them myself. Seems you box them up and send them free, Hermes.

Theres also Freecycle of course.

Hi Derek, I'm in the same boat myself, I haven't opened them for years 'cause everything is so accessible on 'tinternet now isn't it? My collection started many years ago when a few of us did the the Sunday Express general knowledge crossword in the morning and then met in St. Anne's club in Rock Ferry at lunch time to compare notes and have a few tinctures, as I remember it the competition to complete it was intense. I'll look forward to reading the suggestions for disposal.

Wallasey lions have a bookshop that take books to sell on in Liscard, Wallasey lions are an offshoot of Wirral lions, it might be worth contacting them to see if they have other bookshops on the Wirral.

Closed for the day when I went there, a pity it didn't have a contact number on the shop itself.

click

Luckily I came across a stall in Birkenhead market who accepted all the books I gave him (about 80+)

for anyone else who has books to get off i will either take them away and in most cases will either pay or donate to your charity. Or i will just give free advice as to which books are worth selling. for example a first edition of "Casino Royale" in its dustjacket can be worth £300 up to £5,000 depending on condition, cheers
