Great bike shop, used to go there all the time.

Guy was always happy to help and polite.

Was better than halfords which was a complete rip off, that's when halfords were in liscard opposite where the KFC is now.

Used to love standing outside longworths as a kid admiring all the shiny bikes and bits. I got my raleigh lizard stolen from outside because it wasn't locked up. Mr longworth said "don't worry son I seen you lock it up before you came in" nudge nudge.

I got my first brand new bike from there when I was 14, It was a Carlton 10 speed, lookin back` I think it was the only bike I had ever had` that had brakes! up until then i used to build my own.
I can`t find any pictures on the net unfortunately.

My sister and I used "borrow" bikes from outside the shop to cycle up grove rd Mr Longworth just picked them up the next morning. When you entered the shop he would greet you with Morning Sundown.
That was 50years ago a different age, my step daughter lived next door to Vi, RIP

Wonderful memories of Mr Longworth where we kids got our bikes and had them repaired. But my goodness - it was a very long time ago - 1950s.
