Having just read the following , although it is of a shocking nature and something which has often been talked about, maybe with slight disbelief.

My first reactions were not of shock but an 'oh dear, that's awful' response.

Do you think we, as a nation are becoming more desensitized or is it merely because we are only concerned when things affect us?

Personally Granny, I believe I'm becoming more desensitized to news items such as this and also to the number of mass shootings happening in the USA of late. I don't consider myself to be heartless or emotionless but I find I'm less and less affected by these headlines nowadays frown
