Have you asked at yours doctor as I know they do loan wheelchairs free of charge in appropriate cases?

Red Cross Birkenhead hire them out free or reasonable charge

Try some secondhand or charity shops if possible
A friend had basic one in his shop £20 a while ago

When you progress from wheelchair to crutches,,which I hope is the case I can lend you some crutches if that will be of any help !
