Hello, i have a heated towel rail in the bathroom that's decided not to work. Its a stand alone type as opposed to being plumbed in. The on/off switch is lit and the fuse is ok, what could be the problem? Is it an easy fix? If so are there any cheap plumbers around? Cheers, Martin.

Is it an oil filled, electrically heated job? If so, it's an electrician you want, not a plumber. Sounds open circuit in cable or within the element. If the latter, fling it into low earth orbit and buy a new one! grin

Does it have a bleed nipple like central heating radiators do?

The water can be emptied via a big nut at the bottom of one of the uprights.

Well done Raymondo i thought this might run for weeks screwfix £30/£40
Just remember to turn the rail up the other way when you take the element out!! unlike a mate of mine water makes a mess.
These day you may be able to buy a new rail cheaper
