I am a very confused lady at the moment, i need advice and or guidance from you lovely people. I am currently jobless at the moment, i have recently been offered a place at college to study an access course in health because i hope to become a nurse one day or something in health and get better propects i am unsure whether to take it as at the moment i'm on jsa and it's free then onto uni, but i have also been offered an interview for an apprentice administrator on tuesday and my dilemma is which to go for as my situation finacially isn't great and i want a better career and wondering if any nurses on here or anyone can give me advice on what to do or careers advice. I'm 25 so may be too old for the apprenticeship anyway. I do also want a job whilst i study so hope to come off jsa once i'm in education obviously part time work. Thanks in advance faye

nurses aren't doing great at the moment, the whole NHS is getting a shake-up, i don't know come october whether i'll be in a job and i'm a med-sec at a community mental health team, our nurses are s*itting one because like me, they could either have their pay re-graded or be made redundant.

in saying that, it has arguably better prospects that apprentice admin as the latter depends on where you work and what the job entails.

You aren't too old for an apprenticeship Faye. My daughter is 19 and has just finished a health and social care apprenticeship through skills academy it's linked with the NHS. Pay was about £97 a week roughly. She really excelled in it and got a few awards, and walked straight into a job, it's in a nursing home, granted not what she really wanted but it will tide her over till she hopefully gets into uni to do nursing. Google nhs skills academy see if it comes up. Good luck in your future career

Do what makes you HAPPY, you will progress more in a job that makes you happy and feel fulfilled, no safe jobs anymore so work hard and rewards will follow one day.

Visualise yourself lying in your coffin, and then ask yourself which route you would take.
