Will he somehow have any affect on what happens on Wirral side of the Mersey?

No is the short answer to that. The abolition of Merseyside County Council was one of Margaret Thatcher's finest moments.

Doubt whether it'll be this bloke anyway:

But you never know with Liverpool; electoral fraud never did the Hatton regime any harm.

Didn't they try about 4 years ago to include Wirral in this piece of corrupt practice and have the Liverpool mayor also be the Wirral one as well, but people were prepared to go and man the Wirral
barricades to stop it happening so it was quietly dropped.

I believe you are correct Davew. Didn't Mike Storey, Then leader of the Liverpool Council or just after, have a near full page article in the Globe about how he thought it a good idea for Wirral and Liverpool to join ranks?
Something like that, which didn't meet with too much approval. What's his problem anyway, he lives over here now, doesn't he?
Just testing the water I imagine.
He served as Lord Mayor of Liverpool 2009/10

The now Lord Mike Storey of Liverpool with a life Peerage an OBE and CBE , and disgraced ex leader of Liverpool Council.
Those are the prizes for being naughty.

Have a look at Prof. Chucklebutty's blog. for a giggle. It does go on almost as long as his shows do!
