Hi

Do any members in this group have any snippets of knowledge about Wallasey Grammar School for Boys during the 2nd world War?

I'm particularly keen to learn what happened to the school and the boys in December 1940. Does anyone know if the boys were evacuated, and if so, any ideas where the boys were sent?

Are there any publications I might be able to locate that covers this time in Wallasey's History?

Thanks

Ligularium

By December 1940 many of the kids that were evacuated had returned, they were mostly sent to Wales and the borders but the Welsh were exceedingly poor and life wasn't pleasant in most placements, Wallasey Grammar School was open at that time (I presume it was closed in 1939 but re-opened sometime?).

The school was never bombed but did have a number of incendiary devices land on and around around it.
