When in the Conway building(housing?) I saw a notice
'Designated Selective Licensing Areas' ask at reception for maps,
Thinking they were something to do with pub licenses I asked for them and got four A3 photocopies for free.
Since then found them online as pdfs

I think they are to do with landlords of properties for rent actually, to try and impose some reasonable standards on properties to protect tenants. There are some inferior places in the private rented sector; it would be good to think that this scheme will help to bring standards up.

But in reality, the additional costs of this scheme (£695) just puts the rents up. To make it compulsory is theft in my eyes.

There are already plenty of systems in place for keeping landlords in check, its strange they decided to add this scheme instead of doing what they were supposed to do.

Same sort of nonsense with the accredited landlords scheme.
