Just reading his autobiography , think his connection to the area is well known but for info his grandfather (Pat McManus) and father (Ross Macmanus, showbiz 'a',!)lived in Cathcart Street Birkenhead until their home was destroyed by a German mine in the 2nd World War.

The McManus family lived at 134 Cathcart St, the early 50s map shows a space in the houses where the mine hit.

I remember Ronnie MacManus having a small group and running dances at Byrne Ave baths, and his posters were headed. Boppin with Ross.

A very good book looking at the reviews but i will wait until the price drops, or a few second hand copies turn up.

I think their is a picture of them in the doorway of the clockwork orange clothes shop on cleveland street on one sleeve cover.

I got in quick at Neston library, don't think it's in Wirral libraries yet but hopefully will be soon (new books don't seem to appear quite as quickly these days).

Wasn't his father with the Joe Loss Orchestra at one time?
