I don't appear to recognise much on here, cept Lairds. Anyone got any info
Judging by the height the photo was taken and the construction work on the right, it's possibly when the blocks of high rise flats were being built. The ones they knocked down a few years back.
I think the white building just right of centre might be the old "Crooked Billet" pub on Old Chester road.
Ahh, it's a bit clearer now. Couldn't get me sodding bearings
So, would that be Sidney Rd. we're looking down?
Yes Chris, thats Sidney Road your looking down. The flats that are under construction in the photo where been built in the first half of the 60s, between 1960 and 63.
go straight down road the pick is taken on, the street behind the houses, quigley street, the flats is were my dad lived as a kid, on right hand side of road
green lane flats on the left side
The Quigly Street Flats, if the did not know and jumped over the wall at the bottom right hand side of those flats you ended up with a broken leg or ankle as there was a long drop on the other side on to a piece of land at the corner of Farm Road and Peel Street. In the back entry of the houses in Farm road was a flight of steps which took you up to the ground floor level of Quigly Street flats.
A similar view of the same area taken in 1977.
