Is St Marys still the parish church of birkenhead?

I think I have answered my own question.

"Birkenhead Priory, Christ the King (C of E). Church Street. Opened in 1974 to replace St. Mary's as the parish church. Registers of Baptisms and Marriages are still at the church (no burials here)."
