[s]Lunatic Asylums of England and Wales[/s]
New Link
Don't know if this is of any use to anyone? I was looking for photos of hospitals and stumbled across this. Even has a section about the Lunacy Commission - interesting to read if you want to understand why asylums sprang up.

I did a dissertation about the Leicestershire and Rutland Asylum. The building has been preserved and is now part of the University of Leicester (Fielding-Johnson Building). The Registry is in there and the Chief Exec! Apparently the cellars were still padded up until the 1960s and the library used it to store rare books and manuscripts.

Interesting link MissG. I will have to check into it further.

Thanks.
The Hospital I did my psychi training at is on there raftl We lived in too!! It was beautiful. It shut down in 1995 and they turned it into luxury appartments (there's a shock).

The main building wasn't used and we all went round one night after too many in the hospital social club - it was scary as fook!!
where did you do your psychi training?
Don't be fooled - she's one of those Walter Mitty characters...lol
