Thanks for posting that, Lee. A nice nostalgic overhead view of the old Ritz cinema there, where I was projectionist. & a pic. of the Empire, which I'd forgotten about. Now who can tell me when the Conway St. viaduct was chopped?

Cheers, Chris.

there used to be a bathroom kitchen /diy shop running along side it in conway street(where the cool rooms and beach are now)that was forced to close due to lack of custom when they were taking it down

There is some pictures in the PDF, but despite months of searching, I havent yet been able to find modern photos of the Conway St Flyover or the old Birkenhead Bus Station located alongside it.

If you have Firefox then I'd recommend DownloadHelper to snatch embedded Flash content myself.

Is there any more flyovers such as this or the one that was to be build between Jct 4 & 5 (I think) on the M53, or major roads that were never built?

some of us can remember the town prior to the fly overs, and the M53 and all the other alterations that where made to the tunnel entrance, and even when the dock entrance was in use.
