Just watched a dvd of the the old movie, On The Beach , with Gregory Peck. I've seen it before but not for many years and it made an impact on me then and again this morning. It's a brilliant movie even though it was made in 1959 and was black and white.
For those that don't remember it , told of the consequences of radiation dust tracking across the world killing mankind off until the only place left was Australia and how the people dealt with
imminent death.
This ever present threat if us all being killed off either by radiation or virus is never far away. Very sobering thought!

So we(Aus) appear to have Covid under control. The reason that is because the Federal Gov. set up a national panel of all the state premiers and medical officers. The Feds set the agendas and not the states although we did have some hiccups like a cruise ship returning to Sydney with up to 230 covid virus carriers. So I don't think the Northern Hemisphere with the 'apparent useless' heads of government could carry out the same "on the beach' scenario. Talking about beaches, the weather here at the moment(NSW) is diabolicly hot. No good for my poor pommy skin. Merry Christmas to all.
