Yeah, the previous ones were as good too. Its a pity the BBC didnt advertise it more tbh, I only found out about it by chance the day it started.
Hoepfully they will repeat the series on BBC4 soon enough though.
Im gonna check if Virgin media have it on demand. they usually have things like this. its free fore me as we're on the TV XL package. be back on a min to report...
They wouldnt be able to charge for it anyway as its a PSB, so it would have to be available to every customer that can recieve the service, for free
Last sundays isnt on there anymore as only the past 7 days are available (monday 13th) and yesterday(sunday 19th) hasnt been uplaoded yet
All the previous 3 episodes are available on UK Nova if you have an account.

Im watching the Queen atm Mark, and half an hour in (just paused to brew a Yorkshire lol) I have to say its been very good so far.
It is making good use of archive footage from the time of the 1997 General Election to the time of Princess Diana's death and the days afterwards.
The actors are playing their characters well and the storyline is taking the piss out of both Tony and Cherie Blair (and the Labour party in general) and The Queen (and the Royal family) a bit, which slightly lower's the serious tone of the movie, but not in a bad way, in a good way.
Its also giving a rather good insight into the ways of the Royal Family and their private life.
Will report if it remains good later on, but so far so good, and if you havent watched it yet, id say its well worth giving a try.
Watched it all the way through, enjoyed it a lot, deffo worth a try for anyone, its quite a light hearted drama but also tackles some quite serious and important issues.
The Helen Mirren plays the role of the Queen excellently, all the actors in fact play their roles to a very high standard.
Overall, id give it 9/10 for watchability.

Theres also summit called Millionaires Mission on ITV, sounds good lookin at the EPG but it is probably crap.
Gonna Sky+ it anyway.
cool i watched house of horrors latnight. love this stuff
Was there anything on tonight worth watching, like anything along the lines of watchdog, whistleblower, rogue traders etc...
I wasnt around until about 20:30 and didnt bother checking, cudnt be arsed lol.
Dont think there was anything on like...
Tune into Virgin 1 its now on air as i wait for The Andromeda Strain On: BBC 1 lol
Just a reminder for all us Virgin Media customers.
Sorry its not available on sky or free view i think lol
You just know your missing out lol
I think its on Sky yano, and possibly Freeview. I think its only on Sky because when its using some of the Flextech acquired EPG space (Sky leased it to them before they almalgamted into Virgin Media, so they have to honour the agreement for howeverlong it is).
Also, I have a feeling it could be on Freeview, using the Ftn EPG on mux D?? Anyone with Freeview confirm this? I think ftn is/was channel 20?
Ill have a look on the Sky EPG in a minute.
Yeah its on Sky on Channel 153 (+1 is 154), which is where Ftn used to be. So im assuming Ftn has been scrapped to make way for it (most of the content is off Ftn anyway).
Just turned on and its something about a guy trying everything to make his dick bigger cos his bird aint happy with it. Already this channel is looking shit, bring back Ftn imho
Watchdog Is Back!!

Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares - Channel 4 - Starts in 5 mins
Repeat of last nights episode.
Does anyone know if Tonight was on on Monday night?
Theres a series coming up on UK Nova atm which is called Extinct, and is a documentary series about extinct animals that aired in 2001 on Channel 4.
Im watching the first episode now and it seems very good, each episode covers an individual extinct animal, from the Dodo to the Mammoth etc...
Wow theres a load of crap on the main channels tonight, Sports Personality Of The Year on BBC1 and the Royal Variety on ITV1... why do they both have to show boring feature-legnth crap on the same night!!
Coast is on BBC2 a decent alternative, but I have a feeling its a repeat as per usual!
Just noticed, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines is on UKTV Gold at 21:05.
Quality movie, almost as good as T2 imho.
Top Gear was great as usual.
It was on later this week at 9pm.
Aparantly, its not on next week.
because of the snooker.
Why does televised sport get priority of scheduled broadcasting, With so many channels nowadays, aswell as the red button interactive viewing, surely they can broadcast live/unscheduled events on a sub-channel and leave the main channel as scheduled.
Im glad england are out of Euro2008.
sorry the amount of times I said scheduled in that post.... lol
I know what you mean fella, it does my head in too.
I mean, DTT boxes are available for a tenner nowadays, whats wrong with the BBC using BBC Three or BBC Four and ITV using ITV3 or ITV4 for sporting events... anyone who really wants to watch them and doesnt already have digital tv, wouldnt exactly be breaking the bank to get it!!
I watched T3, aint seen it for a year or so, first movie ive watched on TV since Evelyn about 8 months ago lol, cant wait for the next Terminator movie, think its scheduled (oops theres that word again) for 2009 or 2010 release? I know they already started filming it anyway.
Your kiddin..... T4
IMO i thought they blew it with T3 just didnt cut it.
Wonder what the story line will be for T4
Next terminator movie wont be called Terminator 4, iirc, its going to be the first of a new trilogy of terminator movies. A fourth one has to be made, because T3 left the storyline open.
The next one will be leading on from Terminator 3, as that finished just as judgement day started.
How exactly did they "blow it" with Terminator 3? The storyline was great, in-keeping with the overall storyline of the series (thanks to them changing the ending of T2 at the last minute).
The acting was brilliant imho, as was the production of the movie, okay Arnie was a bit old, but if you understand the full story of the Terminator series, you will see that they story of Terminator 3 was actually very accurate apart from the odd slip up such as John Connor's age being slightly out etc...
Not sure who is going to play Connor in the next one, they did rumor it would be the original actor who played John Connor in T2, but I last heard it would be an English actor instead. I know that both Nick Stahl and Claire Danes wont be returning, although Arnie will have a small cameo role.
Too much GUI and its wasn't that smooth.
And the movie in general just seemed to be over as it began.
Or maybe just too much of a gap between 2 and 3 for me,
who knows, just didn't do it for me.
I could watch one and two over and over, but 3 nope.
I can give it a miss easily.
Personally, id say T1 is the least watchable, its a very dark movie and was also very small budget, which kinda shows, and it also hasnt aged very well. T2 is deffo the best of the series so far, T3 was a close runner, good action sequences, good acting and a great storyline.
They tried to make it more modern by adding comical elements into it, but I doubt anything will ever match T2 for overall viewing quality, because not only is that a James Cameron film, but it was like the very last great sci-fi/robot film made, I think T2 marked the end of the sci-fi era tbh. Remember that during the 80's, sci-fi films were all the rage, towards the end of the 80's robot films were even more prevelant when we had the likes of Robocop 1 and 2 and of course T2. During the 90's however, the entire genre basically died out.
For T3 to do so well in an age when tacky copycat chick flicks and the like where the dominant force, they had to change the style of it a bit, but that fact that it did so well I think proves that the series has plenty of life in it yet, at least at the box office.
I think its great that they are leaving long periods between each film, all to often we see one film released, then the sequal a year or two later and then another sequal a year or two after that and it becomes very boring. Take what happened to the Matrix series as a prime example of this.
1984 was the first one, then 1992 was the scond one, then 2003 for the third, so that gaps arent too disimilar. Im hoping the next one, which looks like it will be a 2009 release, will have some input by Cameron to bring it nearer to T2, but atm he hasnt anything to do with it.
Ahh classic Top gear again lol
Those boys are quality lol.....
on now titty bang bang.... don look at me imm shyyyy

21:00 BBC Two - Horizon: Is Alcohol Worse Then Ecstacy?
Recent research has analysed the link between the harmful effects of drugs relative to their current classification by law with some startling conclusions. Perhaps most startling of all is that alcohol, solvents and tobacco (all unclassified drugs) are rated more dangerous than ecstasy, 4-MTA and LSD (all class A drugs). If the current ABC system is retained, alcohol would be rated a class A drug and tobacco class B.
The scientists involved, including members of the government's top advisory committee on drug classification, have produced a rigorous assessment of the social and individual harm caused by 20 of the UK's most dangerous drugs and believe this should form the basis of future ranking. They think the current ABC system is arbitrary and not based on any scientific evidence.
The drug policies have remained unchanged over the last 40 years so should they be reformed in the light of new research?

that singapore track looks like it's gonna be one not to miss, was watchin a program lastnight about the upcomin season... deffo be following it
Yeh the night race looks a real bit of innervation.
Just have to make the races interesting. lol
The live race early hours again tonight.
The BTCC tried some night races a few years ago...and t be perfecttly honest, it didnt change the qulaity of racing one bit!!
The only good thing that happened was I saw the greatest overtake in my life...Jason Plato in the Nescafe Blend Laguna overtake 4 cars in one corner...magic
Oh..and I forgot to mention n here...last night they had the Top Ground Gear Force.....Top Gear lads doing ground force basically......was very funny..
Night racing isnt an innovation, its just F1 trying to grab headlines. Other forms of motor racing have tried night racing before.
F1 realise their sport is dying due to sheer boringness and scam after scam, which is why they are trying anything they can to gain publicity and media interest in the sport. The sponsors of the sport need to know they are getting value for money.
Any decent movies or drama's on tonight chaps?
Summit called "The Passion" is starting tonight on BBC One at 20:00. Looks like a good drama series about the life of Jesus, maybe similar to the movie "The Passion Of The Christ".

21:00 - BBC One - Crimewatch On The StreetsFor the past six months cameras have been given access to live police investigations. They've captured the fight against gun crime, drug smugglers and paedophiles online. Some upsetting scenes.
The second installment of "The Passion" is on BBC One tonight at 20:30.
Just watched this on the iplayer, getting pretty gd so far.
I still ent watched the first one... cos am spendin so much time at Rhea's trying to get thru all the stuff me Sky+ is recording is getting tedious haha!!

Whats the acting like?
Nope not seen passion of the christ.
The actings mint on it like, wonder if the third installment is on tonight.

Time: 23:00 to 02:20 (3 hours and 20 minutes long)
Powerful tale of submarine warfare based on the semi-autobiographical novel Das Boot by Lothar-Guenther Buchheim. One of Germany's most expensive films, it follows the perilous voyage of a German U-boat from La Rochelle in occupied France to Spain and back in 1941. The fear and claustrophobia involved in life beneath the sea is realistically recreated, while the sentiment is decidedly anti-Nazi.
(Widescreen, Subtitles, 1981, 12, 5 Star)
Director: Wolfgang Petersen
Starring: Jürgen Prochnow, Herbert Grönemeyer, Klaus Wennemann, Hubertus Bengsch, Martin Semmelrogge, Bernd Tauber

... was and still is one of my fave films. Just love Ray Winstone! Class actor.
Nil by mouth is harsh but still a good film if you can cope with the violence.

(Kick-off 7.45pm) coverage comes from Anfield, as Benitez's men host the Spanish outfit in this Group D fixture. The teams contested a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Vicente Calderon a fortnight ago, during which Robbie Keane scored his second goal for the Reds. A win for either side tonight could see them progress through to the last 16, depending on the result of Marseille against PSV Eindhoven.

A Time Team Special: The Lost Dock of Liverpool on C4 +1 at 9:05pm tonight!
I was showing that to tourists in Liverpool today. Told them the best angle to stand at to see the wall. They were chuffed. I will be seeking remuneration from Liverpool City Council for providing this tourist information service (wish me luck).
Or you can watch it on demand
here if you missed it.
I wonder if Time Team would be interested in any of our tunnels
They've done loads of bunkers in the last series and for specials recently, so you never know.
The only problem is, there aint much historical about them, and practically nothing left with regard archeology, as they were left open for too long.
Could we not "find" something
An empty box of B&H, an empty can of Special Brew and a fetid turd. I can just hear Tony Robinson saying in his nasal tones, 'This could be significant evidence of Viking raiders, who we know did visit and settle on the Wirral.'
Watchdog, Tonight and Panorama all on TV tonight. And the soaps.

I wanna watch Corrie but cant afford to take me eyes off the laptop atm
the missus is watching im a dick head get me out of here atm..
I cant stand reality shows.. They make me red..
hahahaha i feel for ya mate; id rather stand outside and freeze than watch reality tv shite.
Unless of course, it is Coal House or Castaway 2000, now thats what I call television!!
Hmmmm the Beeb should either...
a. commission a new Castaway, but not like the 2007 shite, the original one, again on Taransae (sp?), and for a year again, or at least 6 months or so.
or
b. Re-broadcast Castaway 2000 and show as much of it as they can, maybe a weekly thing. I seem to recall it was only monthly, although it worked out at like 8 episodes in the last few months cos it was dead popular, so they should be able to show it weekly or twice weekly and make a darn good series out of it
Never really watched Castaway i just cant get into watching people.. Know if it was watching CCTV of birkenhead then yer thats Reality TV in it self
didnt you watch the original? Man it was amazing, it wernt like the shite you see nowadays, Big Brother, Castaway 2007 etc, it was a real "social experiment" rather then watching people, to see if a group of 24 or so people, all from different area's and backgrounds, could build a community on a remote Island off the coast of Scotland (the outer Hebridies iirc), with the limited resources etc that they had.
It worked very well, there was few arguments etc, nothing blown out of proportion, no need for stupid actors and glamour model wannabes etc, just plain ordinary people, some families etc...
That Ben wot is face was in it...
Thats the one, Ben Fogle, ah the wonders of Google, well it was his appearance on Castaway 2000 that got him recognised by the BBC, which led to him being a presenter on Countryfile etc, think he may have done a yatch race round the world or two as well?
Last episode of Top Gear on BBC 2 tonight at 9pm
Isnt it the Penultimate one.... 7/8 ???
I don't think I have watched Topgear for the last 2 series or so.
Since the publicity from Hammonds crash, it has gone downhill imho, not the same as it used to be. Its a very tired format now, and I think they need to freshen it up, but how, I dont know!!

Has anyone else been watching Red Riding?
I'm watching it on 4OD...feels like a bad episode of Life on Mars.
Why were the 70s so brown?
I've not watched anything since the Derby as the Digibox refuses to work. It works, just won't scan for the programmes. I gave up with it - I'm not terribly au fait when it comes to such gadgets
this is on 4 on demand - no tv required
I'll pass - I've just discovered I can watch Police Interceptors online!! Tissey is my secret crush
Has anyone else been watching Red Riding?
I'm watching it on 4OD...feels like a bad episode of Life on Mars.
Why were the 70s so brown?
crap....if they want to make it look old they should do it in black and white.
I just don't get iti bert - everything is brown - maybe its just how its shot...its trying to be something it isn't. Its got a relatively unknown actor in the lead, but is bolstered by well-knowns - such as Sean Bean playing a creepy, sexually ambiguous bigot.
I've given up - its just not entertainment.
Its had about 4 shag seens as well so far - which just seem to be in there because its channel 4.
Its a FAIL.
The next one if it hasn't already been on is about the ripper. seen a clip i think its the same actors. give it a miss.
Man united on tonight, Premiership winners 2009, European champions 2009, FA Cup losing semi finalists 2009 versus Inter Milan, should be a good game, sky sports.
Just watched Red Riding, crap, definitely not watching the next one
oh good its not just me that thought it a bit pretentious?
no nothing 80% of the channels went down, anyone know why?
Not that its on now, but I totally recommend a drama on BBC - if it comes round again or you *ahem* download it. Its called Being Human. It aired as a pilot in Feb 08 and then started a series this Feb - think its finished now though. Its got Russell Tovey in it (pilot had Andrea Riseborough [Devli's Whore/Thatcher] in it). I've watche pilot and first episode (they changed Riseborough for the girl who played Sugar in Sugar Rush [must watch more of that]). It was very good, made me laugh in a lot of places. Tovey is very good in it as a hysterical specky werewolf, yes you read that correct. He flatshares with a vampire, yes that's right...and they have a ghost in their house.

Liverpool v Chelsea (Kick-off 7.45pm). All the action from the quarter-final first-leg encounter at Anfield, as the sides meet in the competition for the fifth consecutive season. The Blues got the better of Rafael Benitez's men over two legs last season, but the Reds were in fine form in this term's previous round, recording a 5-0 aggregate victory over Real Madrid, which included a 4-0 mauling here. Meanwhile, Guus Hiddink's side overcame Juventus, with a 1-0 home win proving to be enough as they went on to draw 2-2 in Turin HD

Im looking forward to 'the unloved' on Ç4 tonite at 9. Directed by sam morton
Did anyone watch that...
1066 - The Battle For Middle EarthI recorded it and ive just watched the first part (about to watch the second and proper looking forward to it) and must say, thought it was going to be crap for the first 10 minutes or so, but once it got into the swing of things, it was an execellent docu-drama production, covering one of the most important years in this countries history, and yet a time that is not often featured on TV.
It is very informative, but at the same time exciting and it is nice to see things from the perspective of the normal people who fought in the war's rather than the kings or knights that such programmes usually follow.
Deffo worth a watch if you have the time, the TopUp TV box says each episode was 1hr 32mins, so im assuming it was 2hr 2mins or so after considering adverts.
i enjoyed it apart from that stupid woman that kept on saying
"husband"
other than that well done to them !
Im looking forward to 'night at the museum' c4 8.05pm tonight-missed it last week coz we woz avin it large in prestatyn.

On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to ensure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: TOP GUN.

19:00 | BBC FOUR | Crude Britannia: The Story of North Sea Oil - Episode 1 of 3
Three-part series combining archive footage and eye-witness accounts to tell the dramatic narrative of North Sea oil and gas from the 1960s to the present. It charts the decades when the country made the most of its North Sea windfall, with scarcely a thought about where it came from or of the men and women who brought it to us. Through the story of oil, the series offers a fresh perspective on British politics and society and a timely insight into the state of our economy today.
Forty years ago, Britain was poised on the brink of an extraordinary discovery - oil, billions of gallons of it, deep beneath the harsh waters of the North Sea. This opening edition gives a voice to some of the men who made that discovery and who risked their lives in the North Sea to get the oil ashore.
Theirs is a tale of dramatic risk-taking and high politics as the government and the oil companies raced to get their hands on the bonanza. The promise of enormous riches inspired technical innovation on a scale never seen before, but did the haste of the North Sea project put at risk the lives of men who were working in some of the most extreme conditions in the world?
Moonwalker the film is on five now
Shit storyline, but top film
Bored without my footie on a Saturday. Got what feels like a lifetime to go before the new season starts.

Lol, missed this a couple of weeks ago, so downloaded it off UK Nova, but just noticed its on again (funny the TUTV search didnt find it last week). Looks very good, im always intrigue by King Edward, and believe his forced abdication was one of the worst things to happen to this country... This is from the new series of Revealed, which imho, is one of the best programmes on television.
Today @ 20:00 - 21:00 | Channel 5 | Revealed: Britain's Nazi King
Historical documentary series. Edward VIII is popularly remembered as the king who gave up the throne for the woman he loved. Yet his reputation has been tarnished by revelations that Hitler planned to install him as a pro-Nazi king in the event of a German occupation of Britain.
Newly released FBI files reveal the extent to which Edward was distrusted by the British and American governments, and the risk he posed to the war effort.

Today @ 21:00 - 22:00 | BBC TWO | Andrew Marr's The Making Of Modern BritainAndrew Marr's epic series charting the events that shaped Britain.
Britain basks in the heat of a long Edwardian summer, but tension and violence are never far below the surface. Women are attacked while campaigning for the vote, Ireland is divided over liberation from the British Empire, and dockers and miners strike for improved conditions and wages.
With magical archive footage and vivid storytelling, Andrew Marr explains why fears of a German invasion were stoked by the popular press. He also shows how the radical new Liberal Chancellor, David Lloyd George, faced a very modern dilemma: pensions or battleships, welfare or warfare? With the birth of flight and the movies, this is also a story of magnificent men in their flying machines, and future Hollywood stars Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel touring together across Britain.
The assassination of an archduke in Sarajevo sets in motion the wheels of world war. In the corridors of Westminster old allies Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George fight over strategy. Out on the streets, the people are eager for battle, determined to 'teach the Hun a lesson'. Britain is on the road to war.BBC Two Programme Information
Today @ 21:00 - 22:00 | Channel 4 | Katie: My Beautful Face- Also on Channel4+1 (Freeview Channel 13) @ 22:00 - 23:00
Katie was young and beautiful. A model and budding TV presenter, the 24-year-old had a glowing future ahead of her. But in 2008 a vicious acid attack destroyed her face, and with it her career and her life as she knew it.
More than a year on, and having undergone countless operations and rounds of physiotherapy, she has now chosen to give up her anonymity and tell her own story for the first time.
Including CCTV footage of the attack, this remarkable Cutting Edge film follows Katie as she undergoes pioneering treatment and attempts to re-build her life, while two men stand trial for the horrific assault.
In the film Katie bravely tells her story with compelling frankness, surprising humour and an extraordinary lack of self-pity as she tries to come to terms with losing her beauty and starting a new life with a new face.Channel 4 Programme Information

There really is true evil in this world.

Chip and Rock. Pilot show bbc1 9pm tonight. The prelude to Only Fools and Horses.
Just watched Slumdog Millionaire for the first time on channel4. Hubby thought it was a feelgood movie, couldn't be more wrong could he?
Very good, Danny Boyle at his best. Think he's regretting making the film cos the tiny kids who starred in it were subsequently exploited by their parents-one family took offence when DAnny (out of guilt I think) bought them a bungalow, thought they deserved a bigger house! They lived in a shack before then, that's no life for anyone but ffs be grateful at least.
"Rock and Chips" isn't very good and that was the worst Scouse accent I ever heard that the Denzil character was putting on.
Wouldn't and didn't watch it, Just had a feeling it would be crap., and fools and horses being one of my favourites, didn't want to see a prelude. Didn't think for one minute it would live up to it.
Wouldn't and didn't watch it, Just had a feeling it would be crap., and fools and horses being one of my favourites, didn't want to see a prelude. Didn't think for one minute it would live up to it.
I always watch the first of new series in case they're good, the original F & H being a case in point. Thought it might have been cleverer than it in actual fact was. It's the old routine of knowing when to pack in, when you're on top. They have to do everything to the death these days just to make a buck.
i bet the idea came from star wars, 3 box office smash hits for the 70,s and 80,s films then bingo lets make 3 prelude fims and rake in more money.
It was ok, not particularly funny tho!
The Phantom Plonker
Attack of the Trigger
Revenge of the Lovely-Jubbly
I think what you all have to realise is that Rock and Chips was not a sitcom, it was a period comedy drama and was not intended to be in the same vein as OFAH. It's not about "living up" to the benchmark set by OFAH, it was a different concept altogether, and I do believe had it tried to live up to the original, it would have miserably failed - the Green Green Grass is a perfect example of this.
For what it was, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am someone who has absolutely every single episode of OFAH, including never-aired and pilot episodes, but I wathched this show with an open mind, trying not to expect too much from it.
Imho, they tied in the storyline perfectly with what we know and love, and the actors portrayed the characters perfectly - or at least as perfectly as could ever be done without the aid of a time machine. As soon as you saw each character onscreen, you knew straight away who they were portraying and that was a fantastic achievement.
There were some negative bits, for instance the scenes with the cinema manager were somewhat unnesescary etc, and of course with the story having already been explained in Sleepless in Peckham and The Frogs Legacy, we already sort of knew what was going to happen.
Overall, id say they could have made the episode more fulfilling if they had edited into a 60 minute timeslot instead of a 90. It certainly paves the way for a second episode in the same vein, because there is still some way to go in the story of Freddie the Frog getting himself killed and Del's mum dying etc - as far as a series goes id think its highly unlikely in the current format, but maybe something more along the lines of First Of The Summer Wine, and based more around Del-boy and Rodney in the 70's with Del being a man and Rodders being a teenager. Either way, it would have to centre around Del and his mates with Rodders a sidekick, thanks to the age of Rodders.
Does anyone else think that Grandad, whilst wonderfully portrayed by Phil Daniels, boar an uncanny resembellance to Mickey Pierce??
You should be a tv critic matt!

Look at the expenses (i.e. organisers wages) of any of the charities and it will put you off supporting them.
"Help for Heroes", go to their website. They put their money where it is supposed to go, brilliant.
Did anyone see Eddie from the Black Watch putting the cup on the stand for the Carlisle cup match? H for H is for fellahs like that who put themselves on the line good style. He's still got shrapnel in him.

Well I am afraid "The Prisoner" was pretty grim, thought they might wreck it by making yet another version of James Bond (like they did with Mission Impossible), but instead they just made it BORING.
Prisoner without Portmeirion couldn't wash anyways.
didnt watch 'the prisoner' in the end! watched bgt extra on itv2. that dancing man was amazing- as was the 10 year old girl who did a vera lynn song!

Tv Burp and x factor, for me.

You enjoy tho
Bomber Command - WWII pilots & crew. A few friends are "in" it as they are part of the BBMF
Wasn't it the Bomber Boys who were never awarded any medals or recognition following the war, for political reasons? And yet they played one of the most important parts of the allied air conquest, utilizing previously untrained youngsters with the most basic of training and equipment, who sustained unimaginable losses, and were subject to horrendous treatment in Nazi PoW and concentration camps, and it was only the intervention of the Luftwaffe as fellow airmen once they became aware of the situation, that led to the survival and release of them, a day before they were due to be executed (a direct order sent down from Himmler was it?)??
If so, this should be epic if it tells the story of their plight, it never ceases to amaze me how some of these heroes managed to keep going throughout WWII, and some of the things they endured are truly unthinkable...
On for record, cheers Jaci, wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.
My wife is addicted to dancing on ice but I persuaded her to record it and watch on the Sky Plus. Just checked and for the first 25 minutes there was less than 2 mins skating. The rest was banal chatter and time filling. So an hours programme condensed to 15 max. Well done Sky+.
I hate that on xfactor etc, some poor sod working his heart out on stage doing something amazing - and the cameras cut to a judges face just at a critical moment!!!
'The Time Traveller's Wife' Ch.4 9pm. It's a Sci-fi/Romance starring Eric Bana & Rachel McAdams. Could be worth a watch. Don't think it's ever been shown on terrestial before.

That is a very strange story indeed, quite interesting but not sure how it will seem on TV.

Baka: A Cry From the Rainforest. V.interesting.
Hustle was simply amazing!! The perfect episode to sign off, the perfect ending to have Danny Blue back!! Had a feeling they'd get him back in the final series and was praying for it, but thought the Beeb would either struggle to entice him, or simply wouldn't bother.
Sooooo gutted there won't be any more, but made up Danny came back, just a shame he never made it back for a few of the cons earlier on in the series; gonna be a loooooonnnnggg wait for the movie now.
Has been the best thing on BBC since the demise of Only Fools and Horses!!

get on to the loose change dvd guys, interesting views from the structural engineers basically confirming the temperatures needed to melt the steel could not possibly be generated by the aviation fuel, hinting at the fact it may have had a helping hand. Good explanation of the free fall counter argument and alludes to the fact that paper passports were found intact undamaged quite a feat really given it was that hot the structural steel went, but two bakalakadakas passports (paper) survive, well what are the chances eh?
Footy was boss though
Managed to stream it over tinternet for nowt - Result
A quick heads up for next week. Don't know if anyone's been watching the BBC2 series 'Britain's First Photo Album', about the early photography of Francis Frith and local history, but next Tuesday's episode is about Liverpool & the North West.
Might mention Wirral (possibly New Brighton?) but couldn't tell you for sure. Nice series though.

Thats the one rude, its all over you tube, will send you a clicky
You don't have to melt the steel to destroy a building, just get it pretty hot and it starts to warp. It doesn't take much of a warp to start structural problems. The building already had some major structural damage from the impact of the aircraft way beyond design redundancy limits.
True DD But if that was the case it wouldnt collapse in free fall or controlled manner it would sag and lean over the weakest point
"Melted" Steel
CLAIM: "We have been lied to," announces the Web site AttackOnAmerica.net. "The first lie was that the load of fuel from the aircraft was the cause of structural failure. No kerosene fire can burn hot enough to melt steel." The posting is entitled "Proof Of Controlled Demolition At The WTC."
FACT: Jet fuel burns at 800º to 1500ºF, not hot enough to melt steel (2750ºF). However, experts agree that for the towers to collapse, their steel frames didn't need to melt, they just had to lose some of their structural strength--and that required exposure to much less heat. "I have never seen melted steel in a building fire," says retired New York deputy fire chief Vincent Dunn, author of The Collapse Of Burning Buildings: A Guide To Fireground Safety. "But I've seen a lot of twisted, warped, bent and sagging steel. What happens is that the steel tries to expand at both ends, but when it can no longer expand, it sags and the surrounding concrete cracks."
but its honey comb structure was designed to take multiple impacts from bigger sized aircraft at higher velocity, if you take the time to eatch the dvd, myou cant argue with the science very interesting some very credible people including ex cia / fbi and pentagon have all spoken out some of which who were interviewed for the dvd have sadly since died,
Watch the dvd its an education hard to argue with fire fighters structural engineers and simple sciene imo,

hi, anyone been watching the documentary about the hotel Claridge,s in London .I just came across it randomly, finding it very
interesting ! stories about the staff ,guests and the history of the hotel.
My favourite programme is on tonight - the fourth episode of Last Tango in Halifax on BBC1 at 9 pm. This is a heart warming light hearted drama series set in Yorkshire full of brilliant actors and the plot is unfolding in a way that ensures there will be many episodes to come - it is really the best thing I have watched in ages - I'm looking forward to this evening.
I've only seen the first one of these and I really enjoyed it. Have had to record the rest due to other commitments but will probably watch the all in one go!
Come Dine With Me 8pm C4

Hello granny. Channel 4,would that be part of the BBC,or pay tv?
Maybe if anyone was really keen to see it,rent it out at video shop, though do you still have video shops? We had four in our suburb, and now down to one. Only ones keeping it going, are us who belong to the old school. Besides, it's nice to talk to someone and not a machine, and support them as they are not busy as they once were.

BBC 2. Watching Leningrad and the Orchestra.
My gosh ! There is not so much music as mainly the history of Russia. It was horrific for years. Starvation particularly was everywhere. Starving babies fed on boiled maze. When taken to the doctors one mother was advised not to leave her baby alone as children were being kidnapped for food.(from the doctors !) Cannibalism was rife. People dropping dead where they stood from starvation and cold. Stalin said One death is tragic, one million deaths is a statistic. Cannibalism was still ongoing after the 2nd world war, until the Soviet Union collapsed.
Horrific stories being related.
Cheerful!
Plus has a Batman film on.
Enjoyed Montalbano last night, they do things differently in Sicily.

You dont like eastenders ?
Emmerdale is getting good.
Another one you may like is Silent witness.
Haven't watched EEnders for a long time , liked it when it very first started with Angie and Den but no too gloomy. Funny With Silent Witness I love reading books about Murders and forensics but can't seem to get into it on tv I have recorded the first two and will give it another go. Well I'll say night night now Snowy I'm off to bed X

Yes love my corrie and emmerdale , don't watch eastenders though..
Not watched Eastenders for donkey years- just pure misery, every episode. Don't watch Emmerdale either. Corrie ALL THE WAY!!!!
Does anyone watch Casualty. I used to really like it, but then about a year or more ago , it must have had a new production team or something, because suddenly the format changed so the story lines were sometimes weird and less connected to each other- not half as good , and also the diction became dreadful. Any one else notice?
It still has a common theme across the separate plots in each episode. Don't like them wasting time with the flash reviews at the beginning but it seems to be the fad with a few programs these days.
From a production side it has always been well produced with using a lot of different textbook techniques in the way it cleverly switches between scenes. Though I would say that the current team doesn't seem to be able to make the most out of the bigger budget episodes.
A couple of the actors haven't been capable of sustaining the demands of their roles even though they have done similar very well in the past.

Funny as iam an EastEnders watcher and nothing else. I like it, I don't find it to misreable , heavy at times granted.

Well maybe my hearing has deteriorated more than I thought , because I really struggle sometimes at quite a reasonable level of volume, to decipher what theyre saying.
I like the initial catchups though - the old memory banks arent what they were!
Loved Selfridge's. Anyone else??
Yeah I enjoyed it Lollipop. Have you read up about the real Harry Selfridge on which the series is based? It's very sad he ended up a pauper not even enough to to bury him..

Cameron live debate sky news 8pm
In or out
Thanks Mark. Watched that with interest. Who on earth was that next to useless woman supposedly to be keeping the debate in order. You couldnt even hear half the questions people shouted out and she ended up having no time for the planned further 12 questions because she couldnt keep control.
Thought Faisal was a poor match for Camerons heavyweight tactic of talking over him all the time when Faisal tried to get him to address the questions more directly. The literature student in the audience who said she wouldnt stand for his waffling or evading questions could have done better !
I thought Cameron gave reasonable answers , and of course wouldnt accept hed been scaremongering on anything. He got a good grilling from one or two public on his attempts to suggest we couldnt trade with Europe out of the EU .Im looking forward to hearing the Brexit side tomorrow night. Sad though its Michael Gove leading them which will probably lose the outers the night.
Cathy Come Home. BBC4 10pm
In a nutshell
A milestone in British filmmaking and still one of Loach's most direct and watchable works. Issues and characters are carefully balanced, Sandford's writing is credible and intelligent and the intervening decades have done nothing to lessen the film's impact.

Hillsborough: Smears, Survivors & the Search for Truth
Published: Mon 12 Dec 2016
New questions over Hillsborough witness statements and alleged police cover-up raised by ITV doc
A new documentary for ITV uncovers previously unreported specific evidence that raises questions over witness statements given in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster, investigates an alleged police cover-up and how the Liverpool fans were smeared.
The investigation for the Hillsborough: Smears, Survivors & the Search for Truth programme which airs on ITV tonight (Monday) at 10.40pm, reveals new information which asks questions about evidence given to successive inquests and police inquiries.
The documentary airs as the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation into alleged police misconduct relating to the disaster is due to come to a conclusion by January.
In it, reporter Peter Marshall - who was there as a Liverpool fan on the day 96 people died - examines new evidence behind some of the shocking headlines and stories, raising concerns about how survivors, witnesses and their testimony were treated.
The programme examines the claim published in The Sun’s infamous front-page story The Truth that Liverpool fans had shouted a lewd comment at a female casualty being carried by police.
The original source of the claim was Inspector Gordon Sykes, who on the evening of the disaster went to the police social club where he made serious allegations to a local MP about the behaviour of Liverpool fans. Four days later The Sun’s story was published, containing the words: “In one shameful episode a gang of Liverpool fans noticed the blouse of a girl trampled to death in the crush had risen above her breasts. As a policeman struggled in vain to revive her, they jeered: Throw her up her and we will ---- her.”
In court Sykes denied speaking to journalists but admitted the story started with him. The programme uncovers evidence a statement from a local resident which appears to corroborate that claim, was in fact made by the daughter of a South Yorkshire Police Chief Inspector.
The statement, made after the Sun’s story was published and given by a local resident to a witness hotline run by West Midlands Police, who were investigating South Yorkshire Police, was uncovered by an anonymous Hillsborough survivor known as Tenacious Kennedy. It appears to echo The Sun’s words.
It reads: “Two lads who had been at the match said that a young girl had been pulled over the top of the fence and appeared to be dead. They said as she was lifted up some of her clothes came off. One of these lads said he heard another Liverpool supporter shout something to the effect of, ‘Throw her back and we’ll give her one.’ I don’t know who the lads were. They seemed to disappear.”
Tenacious Kennedy says: “So the name in the witness statement was redacted, however what we did find somewhere else amongst the half a million documents was an index so what we could do was we could actually work out that her name was Cherry Daniels.”
Tenacious looked up her birth and marriage certificates - discovering she was born Cherry Sumner, daughter of David Sumner, a Chief Inspector who had been on duty at Hillsborough. Mr Sumner was also the line manager of Inspector Gordon Sykes, the source of the story that ended up in the Sun.
Earlier this year after new inquests cleared Liverpool fans of any blame, and returned a verdict of unlawful killing, David Sumner told ITV: "I’m sorry, I do not accept the verdict of the jury. And the other one I don’t really agree with is that the Liverpool supporters were completely innocent because they weren’t.”
Hillsborough expert Professor Phil Scraton says: “Suddenly, at the eleventh hour, right at the end, 20-odd years on, what do we discover? That a crucial piece of evidence is compromised because of the relationship between the evidence giver and the police. Now, that is a remarkable situation to be in.”
Mr Sumner told the programme he’s cooperated fully with the Hillsborough investigations and he’s been advised to give no further comment while enquiries continue. Cherry Daniels said her only link to Gordon Sykes was that he’d been her father’s colleague, that she did tell West Midlands Police about her relationship to her father - and was told it wasn’t relevant. Mr Sykes didn’t respond to the programme’s request for an interview.
The investigation also uncovers evidence that former Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards made a statement with an account that was similar to the Sun’s.
At the recent inquests the coroner referred to a note prepared by the IPCC in which it, ‘indicated… That other witnesses with no connection to Mr Sykes agree with him.’ The programme examines the note and reveals that one of those witnesses is Sir Dave, who was present at Hillsborough and went on to become Sheffield Wednesday chairman before taking the reins of the Premier League. In his statement made six weeks after the disaster he describes a female casualty and says: “The blouse had come fully opened and the bra lifted above her breasts exposing them. Some lads… Made comments like, ‘Throw her in here, we’ll f---ing fix her up.’”
Sir Dave was on the pitch with a doctor he says told him the woman was dead. But his detailed description of the woman’s clothing doesn’t match any of the seven women who died. When the programme makers wrote to ask about his statement, all their letters were returned unopened.
Another witness, Pc Peter McGuinness, says he carried a young woman through the tunnel with Inspector Sykes, and he says he didn’t hear any lewd comments: “I certainly didn’t hear any and would be surprised not to have registered such comments if made.”
The programme also reveals that referee Ray Lewis says his statement to police following the match was changed - he believes to support the agenda of the police.
He says: “When I received the typed up version it said these spectators were pissed. So they changed the word ‘mixed’ to ‘pissed’. The handwriting I must admit from the police superintendent isn't particularly good but I’m sure thaT anyone would actually look at that would identify the word is definitely not ‘pissed.’ So i just feel it’s been placed in there to give support possibly to police actions.”
In his official inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster, Lord Justice Taylor condemned false press reports, ‘Said to have emanated from police officers,’ about fans’ behaviour. But he accepted as fact the suggestion that, ‘One horse was found afterwards to have cigarette burns on its rump. Clearly that was the despicable work of a hooligan whether in drink or not.’
A report in the Sunday Times on April 23 1989, also headlined The Truth, spoke of the, ‘Ugly, even vicious,’ mood of some fans: “In the midst of the mild-mannered majority were the louts who had drunk the local pubs dry. Some stubbed their cigarettes out on the police horses.”
However the log kept by South Yorkshire Police’s press office on April 19 1989 shows they were denying such an incident had happened. It reads: “Insp. Hand-Davis confirmed that none of the horses used during the operation was injured as far as was possible to confirm. What happened was that one horse ridden by PC231 Scott was subjected to such threats but they were not carried out.”
Mounted officer Dave Scott gave a statement five days after the Sunday Times story, saying: “I have since inspected my horse and have found that there are several lumps on both its rear and off hind quarters. The coat surrounding those lumps appears singed which may be consistent with having lighted cigarettes stubbed out on his body.”
But equine behavioural expert professor Derek Knottenbelt tells Peter he is puzzled by this sequence of events: “If he had seen things on the horse, a) he should have known what to do about it, b) he should have called a veterinary surgeon who would ordinarily have been [called].”
Farrier Philip Webb also gave a statement five weeks after Hillsborough describing injuries to Scott’s horse Silverwood from cigarette burns. In his statement he said:“When I saw Silverwood I was disgusted… Silverwood had numerous burns consistent with cigarettes being put out on his skin, and cigarettes being maliciously twisted into his skin. The burns were predominantly to his backside, round his tail, to the left side of the body. I counted 14 distinct burns I could see numerous other burns, there were burns to the tail itself, a number of burns went beyond the outer skin, and into the flesh.”
But professor Knottenbelt questions the farrier’s description of the injuries. He says: “I don’t know how you could tell that at three days because there would be nothing to see except what we would call an eschar, which is a hard, dead area of skin. It would be very painful I agree, and the coming off of the pain would be three or four days, there would probably be very little pain after that. So I find that, to be honest, I find it implausible.”
When production contacted David Scott, he said he’d spoken to the IPCC and was making no other comment. Philip Webb, the farrier, didn’t respond to their letter.

Yes, just watched it. It breaks my heart watching these things but if we don't, we are none the wiser. Poor old Jumbo !
I recorded this and have just watched it, tragic such a magnificent elephant and still was growing.I knew about Jumbo by watching a programme call American Pickers, two guys that go around old barns and places buying old stuff and they came across a guy who had the bell from the train that hit poor Jumbo, don't think they bought it as couldn't be proved. What I didn't know was about him coming from England and his early years. Extremely sad!!

Rubbish tele, consistently.
I can't understand why they spend so much on things like certain celebrities having a walk in the snow in the artic, or sailing up the Nile in a canoe. One minute they judge baking competitions , next they're in Asia doing funny dances. Must cost a fortune to ship out all the camera crew, producers, make-up artists, translators, etc.etc.
I did watch the BAFTA's at the weekend, something I haven't watched for years. That was an eye opener too, for reasons it's better not to show, but I will say that ' For Sama' that won an award, is another propaganda documentary . That husband is connected to some horrific people and now he lives in London !

I can't disagree with you granny, the screen seems to be dominated by celebrity this that or the other, they manufacture opportunities for themselves, they even get paid for the so called charity shows like the chase, bake a cake, sing a song dance a dance the so called soaps are dross dressed up as "real life"
I agree with all points...too many these stupid shows and celebrity this and that. I always think they make the questions so easy to make sure the celebs don’t come across as too stupid, I like watching all the programmes set in Alaska about living subsistence lifestyle and off grid but a lot of them I think once they become popular seem to play to the camera.
Just watched a programme showing bits of Hollywood actresses being interviewed, Bette Davies, Joan Crawford etc , love these kind of things. Sylvia Syms narrates these shows, they’re great. All the legends , don’t make them like that anymore and just heard the great Kirk Douglas has died, sad another legend gone but he was 103 , r.i.p. ( I am Spartacus) ...
