Man slashed across the face in Liverpool knife attack
Detectives have released CCTV pictures of seven people they want to trace after a man was slashed with a knife in Liverpool.

They believe 4 teenaged girls and 3 boys may hold vital information.

Police say the attack happened in Paradise Place in Liverpool city centre on May 4th at 10.45pm.

The victim, who is 18-years-old and from the Everton Brow area, had been walking with his 17-year-old girlfriend through Liverpool One from near John Lewis towards McDonalds when the pair were approached by a group of girls.

An argument followed and the victim and his partner tried to walk away from the group towards the junction of Church Street and Lord Street.

Detectives believe they continued to follow the pair and were then joined by three young men.

One of the men confronted the 18-year-old victim and following a brief exchange of words, the offender slashed the victim across the face causing a deep wound to his cheek and temple.

At this point security guards working in the city centre shopping area intervened and the main offender and his two male friends walked off in the direction of Paradise Street bus station.

The victim and his girlfriend sought help at a nearby pub and an ambulance was called.

He later received 27 stitches in the left side of his face at hospital.

Officers are treating the incident as an unprovoked assault.
“This was a nasty and completely unprovoked assault on a young person who was simply walking through the city centre with their partner.

"The couple were subjected to verbal abuse while they walked through Liverpool One and this hostility from a mixed group of other young people escalated as they tried to walk away.

"The victim has received a deep and lasting injury to their face and has been left traumatised by what happened.

"Attacks of this nature are incredibly rare in Liverpool city centre and the unprovoked nature of this incident make it highly unusual.

"We are working hard to identify the person or people responsible so that they can arrested, charged and put before the courts and need to speak to as many witnesses as possible.

how can they say attacks like this are "rare"?there's always some kind of attack to hear about in liverpool as the city is rife with wanna be gangsters!!
