Murco Leasowe Road

I know a lot has been posted about this place, but its still going on. Many of you will have heard about the cash machine being used to clone cards, our son was one of the victims and lost money out of his account that he eventually got back All that business was a few years ago.

Just before Christmas middle daughter used her card for fags and petrol. A few days later her card was declined for a payment somewhere else. When she checked her balance £50 "cash-back" had been taken from her account. She contacted Barclays who said there was nothing they could do because her card had not been used illegally. She knew what had happened to her brother so she went to the Police who......wait for it......said there was nothing they could do about it!!! She went back to the Murco and asked for the copy of the card transactions, which they have to keep by law, the manager said they couldn't find it and it must be lost. She tried the Police again in the vain hope they would make the garage produce the receipt and again they said there was nothing they could do. She then contacted Barclays again and when they knew she had spoken to the Police (even though the Police wouldn't do anything) they said they would reimburse her the £50, just like that.

I still use the garage because its local but I don't use the cash point and I pay in cash for my fuel. The moral of the story is that we have told middle daughter to ask for a receipt everywhere she shops and to always check it.

When will this place get shut down this has been going on for years and no one seems to get the blame for it

I was in there the other day, a customer in front of me put his card in pin machine inside, and straight away the cashier took card out and said, its a new machine it's not working correctly, and put it in a machine behind counter, then back in pin machine and asked customer to try again.

I was just about to pay for my fuel using a card but had second thoughts, so I said to cashier I will drop the cash of later on, (because they know me and where I work they allowed me to drop it in later on)

I will never use my card in this place after witnessing this.

The evidence is in what's happened to my son and daughter and a lot of other people. I posted this as a warning in the hope it would alert people to the threat. No judge and jury needed, someone there is guilty.

Happened to me 3 times, not at this store, now pay cash for everything, let them have the headache of carrying large amounts of cash.

Have to agree don't use your cards at this store! I used my card there (both over the till and cash machine) just before Xmas thinking that the problems had been sorted years ago and the next day the bank contacted me to say that someone had tried to use my card details to make over £2500 of purchases overnight with Ticketmaster. Fortunately the bank was very switched on and I didn't loose any £'s. Having said that because I didn't suffer any losses the police won't even issue me with a crime reference number...

Why do you need a crime reference number?

Makes me glad I have an Allstar card and never have to use my debit/credit cards in petrol stations.

I tend to use the credit card for everything as the dispute process is much easier and more importantly you're not left out of pocket.

There ought to be a crime reference number because a crime has been committed. I assume that, since there wasn't a number, that the police took no action, which I think is wrong.
In the case of this shop, since several people seem to have had problems, why haven't they been stopped?

The first time it happened there were custodial sentences handed out and it was found to not be the owners but rogue employees.

I think sometimes you need one if you need to claim off your insurance if there is a loss of property or money through a criminal act.
I also think that some minor crimes are not classified as crimes so as to give us the impression that the crime rate numbers are going down

It wasn't that I needed a Crime reference number as such - I was just making reference to the fact that the police did not see it as a crime as I hadn't suffered any loss - but that was only because the bank was so quick off the ball. I just think that there is obviously an issue at this garage and that they should be looking into it - if they don't view it as a crime then they aren't going to look into it frown

I don't see the difference between attempted robbery, rape, murder etc. All crimes, so if an attempt has been made then the police should act. God knows the crime commissioner (that's a laugh) is currently expecting us council tax payers to cough up extra council tax to stop police numbers decreasing.

Can any "experts" tell me why a special police officer who gets paid nowt can arrest people yet PCSO's (plastic police) get paid quite reasonably can't arrest? Makes no sense to me!
