Ad in globe Return coach travel dinner bed and breakie 2 days ....1 night.£50. Anyone ever took the plunge and gone on one not knowing where your going or do they tell you after you have booked and paid.just wouldnt fancy ending up in blackpool southport or even chester.
All I know is that on one occasion a lady had missed her coach on a trip out. When asked where she was going, she said she didn't know as it was a mystery tour.
She took the next train home without her luggage. Cost her a fortune.Poor soul.
Errors all down the line, but that is what happened.
There was a legend in Levers Bros Port Sunlight that an
employee on holiday in Blackpool went on a mystery tour
which took them to Port Sunlight.
Be my luck for it to be New Brighton
I have been on many Travelstyle holidays ,mainly week-end breaks , have gone the'mystery 'ones as well .If you check 'dates over all destinations ,you CAN work out were you are going .At the beginning of the trip ,when everyooe is 'on board ' the driver normally tells you .They call them ' price buster week-ends '.That is if you stay with the one firm .Not sure about other company,s.
Did one of these trips once - big raffle to guess the destination, winner gets all money - driver won it
TC and I have done a few coach trips now and love them we also fancy a mystery one and lets face it for £50 (seen some for £39) bed, food, sight seeing and meeting new people i think its worth every penny!

It wasn't Blackpool. It was somewhere in North Wales (Llandudno? I can't remember). And it was sometime during the early 60s. The employee was Mike Shaw. I worked with Mike and I vividly recall him telling us about it when he returned from his holiday. He was just a lad then but he went on to become QA Manager at Port Sunlight although he's been retired for quite a few years now.
I worked with Mike from 1961 until he retired and saw him only last week. I'd forgotten it was his story but he had so many!
It's likely therefore that we know each other, I was in
Soapmaking Lab, Works Lab and Development Dept.

Are you George D? I'm Ray R.
Correct - Hi Ray! Mike said he met up with you a while back.
Hi George - I guessed it must be you - starting in SM Lab in 1961 and listing Wallasey as your location. John Adam & I started at Levers on 1 September 1961 (in Central Lab). We were only there for 2 weeks and were sent on an external course at Birkenhead Tech for another 2 weeks. When we returned we were immediately transferred to SM Lab and I think you started very shortly after.
Shirley & I spent an extremely enjoyable evening with Mike & Heather 5 years ago.
Nice to hear from you Ray. Sadly John Adam died a few years back,
I remember you both coming down to SM Lab. Hope you and Shirley are well - Say Hello to her.
