Is there a Photography club in Wallasey that a complete novice would be welcome to learn from its members? I have just been given a camera but no instructions with it. I was under the impression that i was going to be given a simple "Point & click" camera, similar to the "Hanimex 110" that my grandma left for me in her will! But this is a Nikon with lots of bells & whistles, that are totally beyond my understanding!
Any help would be appreciated

I don't know of anyclubs, so I'm going to keep my eye on this thread smile
But there is a group called Liverpool Meet Up Group on Flickr they seem to get together quite often.

What model of Nikon do you have?

Looking at it from the front, it says " Nikon" over the lens, and to the left of that, it says " Coolpix S700. On the side it says "5.0 MEGA PIXELS. 8XZOOM ED.
The battery is quite big, about 2"inch long & 1 wide. There is a flap on the side which opens, but i dont know what the function is. On the top is a small led display window & a space for a flash bulb.
It came with a battery charger and a leather case, and that was all.

Sorry Tran. I just downloaded the link you kindly gave, but it was not the same camera. Totally my fault as i did`nt have my specs on. It should be 5700 not S700. Very sorry.

This is a great forum, where you can ask anything. There are some incredibly experienced people and they don't mind being asked questions about simple things as well as more challenging questions.

The Nikon 5700 is a cracking little bridge camera, i had one for ages and it's as tough as old boots, as all Nikon stuff is! 5 Mp is ideal for what you want to start off with.
