Volunteers needed to help spread the word for Cancer Research UK

WIRRAL volunteers are needed to help promote Cancer Research UK's fundraising events.

The charity is asking men and women to step forward as marketing volunteers and help with important tasks such as distributing leaflets and posters as well as looking for ways to promote the organisation at community events.

They will also help to highlight Cancer Research UK's Race for Life and run 10k events, which will take place across the region next summer and autumn.

Helen Wright, Cancer Research UK event manager for the North West, said: "This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to volunteer and do something really positive to help beat cancer.

"Without the dedication of local men and women, who volunteer their time and energy, our events simply wouldn't be possible!"

Earlier this year, more than 730,000 women, of all ages and fitness levels, took part in 230 Race for Life events across the UK.

One-in-three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives. But the good news is that more people are beating the disease than ever before.

Survival rates have doubled over the last 30 years and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.

Helen Wright continued: "Our volunteers have a great time working with other members of the community to create a hugely successful fundraising event.

"And they'll also pick up organisational, communication and fundraising skills while enabling the runners taking part to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK's pioneering work.

"Everyone is welcome to volunteer and we can promise a fun and rewarding experience."

Helen will help to brief, guide and support volunteers.
