Charity soccer match for Claire House

Wirral football team Blaze FC and Merseyside Police are teaming up to raise funds for Claire House with a charity soccer match.

The game will take place on Sunday, May 3, at Prenton Park - home of Tranmere Rovers Football Club.

All proceeds willl be used to benefit Claire House. The fun takes place between 10am and 2pm, with kick off at 10.30am.

Claire House is a centre of excellence providing 24 hour respite, palliative, and terminal care for children and young people from 0 - 23 years of age with a life threatening or life limiting illness, and their families.

It costs around £200,000 a month to keep Claire House open but the organisation only receives £300,000 a year from government funding.

The charity has also seen a 20% reduction in corporate funding which in turn has led to nursing staff having to reduce their hours in order to assist reducing the running costs of the Hospice.

A raffle will be drawn on the pitch at half-time.

The teams are particularly looking for any prizes which can be donated as a raffle prize, however small or large.

Any contributions will be graciously appreciated.

It is hoped two local celebrity football players will attend the event and act as celebrity managers for the day.
