SPRING is upon us and we want you to capture this seasonal change in all its glory.

As the air warms and the buds flower, the photographic opportunities are endless, so the News has decided to celebrate this by launching a Picture Spring competition.

We want you to point your camera at the fields of colourful fauna, the wildlife in Wirral’s parks and woodland, the lively stems and the shoots poking through the warm spring soil.

Allow your lens to absorb images of snowdrops, camellias and daffodils, deciduous magnolias, cherries, and quince coming into bloom.

The News’ award winning photographic team will judge all the entries and pick one winner.

That person will receive a framed version of their picture and a £50 voucher to spend at Fairs Cameras, Rock Ferry.

All the entries will appear in a photo gallery on our website and the best will be published in the paper.

Paul Cook, Ness Garden’s Curator, loves taking pictures of the changing seasons and has already started shooting spring.

He said: “It’s been a cold but normal winter and now it’s wonderful to see all the new flowers coming through.

“Ness Garden’s lawn is looking fantastic, as it’s bursting with crocus and china doxa.

“But I’m particularly interested in photographing the smaller alpine plants in the rock gardens and since the beginning of March I’ve been taking pictures of the iris coming into flower.

“To get the best pictures in spring I’d advise people to take them in the late evening or early morning when the sun is low.

“This way you can get lovely light effects on them.”

Send your photographs to Picture Spring, Wirral News, PO Box 48, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EB or email [email protected].
