I have had to change mobile phones, owing to my phone not working. I have lost some of my photo's off the sd card, which I hadn't yet transferred to the laptop. I had presumed that the photo's were on the sd card and would stay on there when I changed phones.

Is there any chance I can get these photo's back? There are only a few, but they were important ones.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much.

I wold think they're still on the memory in the camera, go to one of these mobile phone shops, I'm sure the'lll be able to recover them.

Would that be my old phone or my new one? I had to reset my old phone in the hope it would then work, which sadly it didn't.

What was the old phone? (Make & model) as even after 'resetting it' they might still be on there somewhere, or backed up on the cloud if you had that enabled.

But if the pics were on the sd card and it's been reformatted by the new phone then unfortunately they're gone.

If you have an SD slot on your computer or an SD adapter then use RECUVA DOWNLOAD to find any lost files.

Recuva may help, https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva/download

Thanks very much, j_demo, diggingdeeper and Salmon.

The phone is a blackview P2. The SD card wasn't formatted, as there were some photo's still on it when I put it in the new phone. The sd card is a micro one. I think I have an adaptor, I will check. I will try the recuva download first. I didn't know ccleaner did a recuva either.

Are these downloads free or do I have to pay?

Hopefully It will work!

I don't mind paying as long as it works if the photo's are on there and I can get them back.

The download is free. Use the link I posted earlier. Easy to use if you take care and select just what you want. Good Luck.

Thanks very much again, I much appreciate all your sound advice. I am so annoyed that first of all my phone malfunctioned badly and secondly, the photos, that should be on the memory card, have disappeared. I am seriously hoping they have only disappeared, and not gone forever.

Once I try the recuva, if it fails, then that really is the last chance isn't it? And what happens to the photo's already on the sd card? Will they stay on the card or will they be altered/taken off the card?

Recuva won't alter or remove anything. You tell it which drive to look on and what for and have an option of deep recovery which can take some time or not. Try without deep first. It will then do it's stuff and find what it can and show you what files can be recovered. Pretty quick and works very well.

I have now tried Recuva. It did find photo's, but unfortunately, not the ones I wanted. I also did the deep recovery, without success. I think the only hope now is recovering them off my old phone. I have asked in a phone repair shop, if they could try and recover them from my old phone, but they said it wasn't in their capabilities. I will try another shop. But I have found this online - EaseUS MobiSaver, that recovers photo's from a factory reset phone. Has anyone used this? I will see if the shop can help first.

Just a question, can you state where photo's are stored on your phone, ie on the sd card? When I take photo's they go in one folder, and I presume, they are on my sd card. But it seems that some go on the card and some on the phone memory, hence I lost some. I only lost last week's photo's. Any other I have lost I have already put on my laptop, so not bothered about those.

Thanks again for all your good advice.

It depends on the phone. On Android camera pictures normally go into the DCIM folder on the phone's internal memory unless otherwise stated.

Depending on the operating system and the app, you should be able to go into settings and change the storage location. On my phone I open the camera app, swipe left to right and it brings up a menu to choose. On other phones you may have to click the cog symbol or three dots and change it there.

Thanks Gibbo for the explanation, I shall have a look at my phone.
