Latest update to Windows 10 is the "Fall Creators" version. As the previous version "Creators" has been brilliant, I forced my computers to load it.

Everything seemed fine ...... but, videos were lagging (audio/video sync problems) and getting a bit of interference on the audio. Memories from the old Adobe Flash problems we used to have, except these videos were HTML5 and don't use flash, its built into the browsers.

Initially I blamed it on the latest Firefox update but further examination (using latencymon) showed it was a system problem.

USB and TCPIP drivers (both are microsoft drivers) were taking up way too much time. Reverted back to the previous version of Windows 10 (creators) and now videos are fine and latencymon shows no huge delays.

While I'm not using an amazing spec machine, its a 3GHz Core 2 Duo with 4MB ram, it shouldn't be struggling. I've yet to check if my laptop has the same problem.

I hope Microsoft fix this before the Fall Creators update is forced on me but I can't find other mentions of this problem on the internet for this version of Windows.

I got the AUTUMN update last week too. It took hours to download and install.

Upon rebooting, the first thing I noticed was that my desktop photo and most of my icons had disappeared. Likewise, my Chrome bookmarks had all gone but most of them were later found hiding in my profile folder. Most of the Win 10 apps had gone too.

I tried using system restore to revert my laptop but that didn't work. All of the restore points prior to the recent update had gone so I'm stuck with the bugger.

After about a week, I've just about got everything back the way I like it.

And the purpose of this update is....? Frankly, I can't see any difference at all. Basically, it's pointless crap. Avoid at all costs
Quite a lot of my icons were missing at first, I let it sit while it churned the hard drive for about 20 mins, then I rebooted and everything was fine.

I've found out on other updates that instead of logging-in straight away, let the hard dive settle down before logging in.
I couldn't get ANY updates on Windows 10. Not that I found it particularly worrying, Everything seemed to work OK. A few weeks ago I decided to address the problem. Microsoft were as much use as a clockwork teapot. Quoting the error code to them left them as baffled as if I'd spoken in Aramaic.

Eventually, I looked on Google and found someone advising me to erase a system file. It seemed to have worked for a great number of people, so I tried it - renaming the file rather than erasing it - and the logjam was broken. It took most of the day and overnight to do ALL the backed up updates, but its worked fine since. I had to replace my wallpaper, but that was about it. All the other data was untouched.
The Windows 10 troubleshooters work quite well with most problems, especially the update one. Start - settings - update&security - troubleshoot.

Re-installed Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and everything is working fine, videos and multi-tasking back to being smooth.

Appeared to be something with too high a priority set that was holding on to system interrupts and not allowing routine multi-tasking processes to get a fair time slice.
