please could someone give me what they know to be a genuine link to the free Malwarebytes. Ive just noticed the malwarebytes Ive got installed , is out of date, ('13) and theres nothing on it to enable me to upgrade, so Im thinking I need to uninstall it and install a more up to date one. From the numerous current options when I google malwarebytes, I clicked first on 'techradar' site which offers to tell you the best link in, but immediately started getting pop ups
so Ive sort of lost confidence in my choosing one myself!!
They don't do a strictly free one, they do the Premium Trial which runs in Premium-mode then drops to free-mode after trial runs out (30 days?). I load the Premium Trial but immediately go to settings and switch off the trial mode.
Left hand column here ...

I simply ignore the message that my trial has expired and hit the "scan now" and off it goes to happily scan.
Mine still scans ok Salmon , but I thought maybe it might not be doing everything as comprehensively as a more up to date version - like not picking up latest viruses.
Thanks for the link DD , should I uninstall whats on my machine first?
It updates if you just over-write it (or always has done with me). No harm in uninstalling first though.
There *is* a completely free version. Just go to:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/and select Free Download on the left.
When you install it, just make sure you don't select the free trial of the pro version.
Hi guys and girls, just a few points about Malwarebytes.
Always make sure that you download the software from the malwarebytes.com site, as per DD's link above.
The free Pro version expires after 14 days and reverts to the free version, after this time you will need to manually run a scan to detect and remove any malware, the Pro (Paid for) version works in real time and constantly scans your PC, preventing malware getting onto your PC and spreading, it also protects you from Ransomware, Malicious websites and exploits.
I have been using the Pro version for many years and I can't speak highly enough of this package.
The free version is still very good but I always think it wise to prevent any infection first, rather than having to deal with it after it has landed and possibly spread. So I pay for the Pro version, it is well worth about £45 for a 2 year licence.
