Home from London Monday to find routers been out over the weekend. New router posted to me today. Very kind of them as they will charge me if I don't post the old one back to them. (prepaid envelope provided though).
I love the recorded message you get. "You will need to do a factory reset on your router--full instructions can be found online.....!"

Anyone else need a new router .factory reset didn't work so they posted new one.

If you have got a Huawei 633 "super router", its nowhere near as bad as many reports make out, though I intend to replace it with a tp-link for a bit more flexibility.

I've had a non-stop hacking attack for a while, every 10 minutes something/someone has a go at port 23 (telnet) and now and then it does a few other bits and pieces.

You'd think that after a month or two they would realise my port 23 is closed, I have a CCTV server which is what they are trying to hack into. The only inconvenience to me is the logs filling up.

I guess the source IP is spoofed, it alternates between Armenia and China ..... so its probably the next door neighbours whistle

All a bit French to me DD but glad you got it covered. I have suspicions when using my tablet as it doesn't recognise my passwords into bank account,or wikiwirral!. My desktop has no such problem.

Bit racist hey edd---no white person on the line. ! Think I did get South Africa call centre once but generally sounds like an eastern gentleman on the other end...usually very polite and as helpful as can be once you have deciphered what they are saying.

Just had the "call" from the Talk Talk engineer about how I need to switch my router off as its infected with malware etc...I think that's what he said as I couldn't understand his "English" too well. Then he asked me to close down the web page I was on and then press the start key and another key at the same time. (I didn't) He asked me what could I see on the screen and I said a window has popped up saying "Don't listen to this guy on the phone its a scam" He then gave me a mouthful of obscenities--something about my mother and stuff--afraid to say he got a few obscenities back although they weren't racial!!
Worry is why did he know I was with Talk Talk or was it a lucky guess.

How do you know if you are having a 'hacking attack' ? (as opposed to a heart attack or cough) That's a serious question... answer please smile
