Ive been logging into my hotmail email account from my own laptop , from a public wifi connection (a campsite) for the last week , on and off. Tonight , I got this email asking for me to re-submit my details. Not sure how much detail till I click on it (which I havent yet) , but is this to be expected when using a different location? Thanks for any advice .

Doesn`t make sense.

Giggler, thanks ,well spotted, I read it so quickly I didnt even notice that !
If its not the real |Microsoft thats noticing Im logging in from two different places, then who is it ??? Wonder if using these campsite wifis have compromised my account - groan. The warning in the subject line continued "Closing of your Microsoft account is being processed !" and thats the last thing I need at the moment .
Anyone else had a genuine warning from Microsoft after using wifi away from home?

You should set up 2 step verification.

You can get them type of e-mails, but normally they ask you to log in and verify they are your devices.

Never follow the link, access your account your own way, and check for any alerts or notices. Safety tip : 3214 smile

Thanks Mark, Ill look now and see what options they give me. If theres no sign of them asking for any verification , does that mean 'someone' else is also monitoring my account ? Do I need to do anything ?

Could just be a random e-mail.
And by chance the circumstances could fit.

I'm not familiar with the Microsoft warnings.
Its been so long since mine were set up.

No requests on my account when accessed directly , so hopefully yes - a coincidental occurance . Fingers crossed then. Thanks.

"Dear user", "Dear customer" etc is a give away, most official companies personalise the email if they want a response.

The poor English is a giveaway. It's a scam.
