Does anyone know of a shop on Wirral (apart from Maplins) that does electric components, e.g potentiometers, switches etc, something on the lines of Brownings or Bert Aults, both sadly missed, or isn't there any call for that sort of place any more?

Ebay all day long if you have an account.

Anywhere else will more than likely order them in.

The demand for them shops has dwindled.

Hopefully someone may know a local shop.

Is this place any good? It's just on the Birkenhead side of the four bridges. My late husband was an electrician and he used to buy all sorts of stuff from there.

I know you are after a physical shop but you are fighting against the tide. You should bite the bullet and try online. I get stuff from either Rapid Electronics, Ebay or Alibaba.com whenever I have a project on the go. I do go to maplins but only if im after something simple and quickly and can put up with the harrasment from every asstant in the store.

I needed a 100k ohm potentiometer for an old colour vector monitor I rebuilt last year, I got it from ss radio, I got an original old fashioned one and a modern one for £2.
