When I try to close down, Ive started to regularly get a message saying its waiting for googledrivesyn to finish first. I can overide it by just forcing a shut down, but how do I get rid of it properly please? Ive found google drive in my program list but clicking on it opens a huge list of options, none of which is 'close down' and as I dont know what its for , I darent delete it. Ive opened task manager but dont know what Im supposed to do with that either - looked it up and loads of people have the problem, but didnt see any easy fixes.

Ooops I must have deleted it . A pop up box has appeared saying You removed a Google Doc from your Google Drive folder. This file is a shortcut. Content online will be lost if Drive Bin is emptied. Ive already looked through the recycle bin again, and restored the only file dated as having been deleted yesterday, so that surely must be the right one, yet this notice wont go away , and Ive read that if you allow the drive bin to be emptied, not only will ITS content be lost, but it will also delete it from the pc as well. Its just dawned on me that this drive thingy is where my son in law shoved all my files and photos as a sort of back up, so am I at the point where I can risk doing a force closedown in the hope that my restore worked and the notice will disappear when I start up again, or at a point where I need to be taking the pc to a professional to avert possible disaster?

It looks like your syncing your files with Google before you shut down. E-mails can be set to do the same.

Ive just had a look at mine.
Visit google then top right click apps and google drive via your web page.

Again in the top right click on the gear kog (Settings) and look under offline mode. Mines ticked but does not cause me any problems.

I dont have the app installed as i use Drop box but with 15GB of storage from google may abuse it for a bit lol.

You may also have settings on your google drive app by right clicking on the icon which will allow you to do the same.

Hope that helps.

I will send you a private message.
I can remote connect to your computer and sort it for you.

System restore maybe an easier option by restore your Pc to an earlier time before you deleted the file. If it fails then you get the option of restoring it back again nothing lost nothing gained hope it helps venis
Search using the Microsoft search box bottom left and plonk in "system restore"

Thanks for your help vanman and Mark . Fingers crossed! My lappy has been looked at by a friends neighbour , and so far........his sorting out seems to have worked, although Im not yet convinced . Was possibly as you suggested Mark , something to do with syncs and google, but didnt really understand his solution . The message isnt coming back though, and it closed without any messages about things being left open. Fingers crossed some more . Hmm, just noticed theres a green triangle in the bottom left corner of the Wiki page, but it doesnt appear on any other web pages?Got a white flower in the middle with a capital C in the centre.

Its always there in the corner, maybe you only just noticed it, you tend to forget it`s there. It`s for the cookies.

Ah, thanks for that! Am getting super conscious of bits and bobs on the screen incase something is going amiss after my fright yesterday and today. Never noticed before- just shows how I take things for granted.
