Once again I have to admit to stupidity as far as the internet is concerned

I am trying to install Adobe flash player on to a 64bit windows 7 system

I keep getting the following message during the installation process

Installation failed

please close following programmes

brccmtcl

internet explorer
...........................
Can anyone please tell me what I should do to get around this problem

Many thanks

Shut down your computer.
Then restart it, that should clear any outstanding background programs.
