I'm really low-tech. But now I find I want a mobile phone. Never had one before.

If I want a phone to use maybe once a week (local call) and that's all - I don't need camera, internet connection or anything else. Just a plain, simple phone.

What's the cheapest way I can do it?

If you just want to make a few calls a cheap asda mobile may be the one for you on pay as you go. Phones are priced from £15.00 and calls are charged at 10p per min & 6p per min for texts. Asda use the vodafone network

Carphone Warehouse have phones for £3.96 plus £10 top up

Got to agree with bandageman. Asda mobile is probably the best, i use it.

Talk Mobile's £1 a month contract. You get 25 minutes of calls & 50 texts.
