Hi,wiki people, i have a H.P.pavillion 17inch laptop, the screen has gone black, but you can seen faint images,also hear it working,wondering if anyone had similar problem, could it be that it requires new screen, and if so any idea of cost thanks.

Could be the ribbon internally connected to the screen. Could be loose or faulty. Get it looked at :-D

Probably the back light easy fix if you know what your doing

It sounds as if the invertor has gone (it's like the starter in your flourescent tube lights).

There are are a LOT of different types (I know, I have a drawer with hundreds of them in).

It's not a complicated fix but you do need to get the right one.

If you bring it down someone can have a look at it, I'll sort the price out when we're sure what it is, but if its just an invertor it won't break the bank
