I have a Brother MFC 8440 which prints and scans using my desk top and perfect printer on my laptop but I cannot get it to scan with laptop.I am using a usb connection.
Any advice much appreciated.

What operating system do you have ?

If it's win 7 click the start button, and type in scanner. And try the built in scan program.

Also check devices to see if your scanner is listed.

Now that's a heavy duty scanner

If you go onto the website HERE and click on the Downloads link on the left its probably just a missing driver.

You might want to uninstall any drivers for it you have already so there are no conflicts.
