3GS is quite cheap now, I have "unused" ones from Apple for well under £200.

If you're looking at the 4 then unless you REALLY want it the improvements on the 4s aren't worth paying the extra for (in my opinion, and I have two of the 4s) as SIRI is a good idea for speech recognition, but until Apple can tie it into some sort of mapping software in the UK it doesn't really speed things up much.

for a 3Gs you'll be looking at about £200 max. if you can get one for £150 you'll be lucky however most people will probably want £250 because they're greedy,

CEX in birkenhead will probably have a few in, mostly in good condition as well, they only buy ones that work too so you'll be fine with getting one used from there.

cheers you two.
was hoping they would be around £100 but if the going rate is 150-200 then she will have to shop around or put her hand in her pocket!

New? Apple have quite a tight grip on iPhone prices and 3GS is only available new in the 8GB size.

3GS unlocked direct from Apple is £319.00
3GS Pay as You Go direct from O2 is £319.99
3GS Pay as You Go on O2 through the CarphoneWarehouse is £319.99
3GS Pay as You Go on Orange through the CarphoneWarehouse is £299.99 + £10 top-up (last I heard all PAYG phones from CPW were unlocked, but you can ask in store).

no pob, wouldnt expect to get a new one for around £100 mate. was hoping to get a decent 2nd hand one around that but it seems even they are going to be quite pricey.

i wouldnt mind but she said she didnt want an iphone when her contract was up in november.

What about a 3G, is there a massive difference between the 3G and 3GS?

A tad coffee a lot you mean raftl don't waste ye money on a 3G one..

3G ones are old now, you can't even put the latest Apple software on them.

If you want a 3G then I have an 8GB one you can have for £80, but there is a big different in speed between that and the 3GS, obviously making calls and texting is just the same smile

Add to that the network is deteriorating by the day. Just moved to three after a decade on o2, and whilst Three has a weaker signal in most places (though o2's signal isn't always 3G whereas 3 is), Three certainly has better blanket coverage.

Been all over the North in the past few days, work phone is on Voda, then I have my Three and o2 phones, and Voda seems the best blanket coverage, though 3G signal is intermittent, Three seems the second best though now that they have ceased roaming with Orange in most places, there is the odd blackspot, and o2 is great for GPRS/EDGE (sometimes), but 3g is pathetic, intermittent at best, but an increasing number of blackspots are appearing.

Using o2 mobile internet during peak hours can be a right pain in the backside, works phone does not have internet allowed on it so can't tell, Three is consistently ultra-fast (presumably because o2 is congested to the point of overload, and Three has much less users, also the fact that Three is 3g/HSDPA across 99.9% of it's coverage whereas o2 seems to be less than 50 overall, despite the claims they make).

You should have a look at some android offerings, can do everything an iphone can, and then some and can easily get them for around 100
