i had my phone unlocked in the cherry tree liscard and it was £10 it was a blackberry.

Depends on the phone:

Blackberry is about a tenner now
Most LG and ZTE are about £8
Older Nokia, again a tenner
Very old Nokia, fiver
SL3 Nokia (new type lock) are £25 (should be coming down soon)
iPhone's are £40-£50 for a factory unlock (depending on model)
£10 for a Jail-Break type unlock (but you can do this yourself for free)
Sony Ericsson are tenner for old type' some newer ones are £20-£40

Alcatel, Vodafone, Bird, Siemens etc, usually cheap but model dependant.
