Quite often when I do a google search then click the site I want it takes me to entirely different sites.
I've tried malwarebytes antimalware prog but it has made no difference.
Vaguely remember someone Bert1? posting about the same thing
if so can someone put a link up please

What browser?
What version of windows?
What AV/Spyware progs?
Are they up to date?

You need to ascertain if its a separate program running in memory or a rogue IE plugin. Try using a different browser. I would suggest Firefox with the Ad Block Plus plugin.

So you're using old and crappy software.

Ditch IE8 asap and get a real browser, as rhoobarb suggested get Firefox.

If you can upgrade to Win7 (xp isn't even supported by M$ anymore..) do so.

Virgin Media Security is not a viable antivirus. Switch to a free one ASAP that'll do a better job while using less resources. MSE or Avira/Avast, any of those 3 works.

Can't go wrong with malwarebytes, don't pay for it ever. It's unnecessary. Are you running the scan from safe mode?

Sorry Derek i can't find the link, malwarebytes didn't work for me either, what did in the end was ad-aware run in safe mode, took about 4 hours, never been back, touch wood.
