Can anybody recommend tech/repair shop to have a look at my Blackberry Bold 9000. I think it is having a problem charging the battery.
I have tried a new battery, this worked fine for a day, then it went back to cycle of Red Light, then software loads to 50%, then back to Red Light, 50%, over and over again, whilst on mains or UPS charge.
So, I think the battery is losing power over time whilst not being re-charged ???? Any advice would be much appreciated.
http://www.bigabyte.co.uk/Bigabyte come highly recommended by all that has used them.
Sorry I can't help with the problem, especially as it's not battery related.
Have you tried a full backup followed by a full restore to latest software etc?
Thanks Nobody, Yes I have done a full BB Desktop download to it via USB which was fine. Thanks for your advice.
Is it possible that the phone has any water ingress which is causing the battery to short, you might notice that the phone gets a bit warmer than usual. If everything else is working this "should" be a relatively simple fix.
If you mean that it doesn't charge at all (and that the light flashing is caused by the battery going flat) then it could be a faulty charger or charging socket. Both of these are, again, fairly simple jobs or you could get a Universal Battery Charger which charges your phone battery outside the phone for a fiver from the place recommended above, if nothing else this gets your phone back working again in as long as it takes to charge your battery, and as you have a spare you shouldn't be without your phone whilst it's charging.
It is possible that the phone has had water ingress, I got it, broken, through my ex work, not sure exactly what had happened to it. I've had it in a drawer for about 18 months, it wouldn't charge or boot at all, so I got a new battery, it then let me install BB Desktop yesterday and booted up OK. After a couple of hours it started going to the Red Light for about 20 secs, then getting 50% booted, then back to Red Light, etc.in a loop. Sometimes it crackles a bit when going thro this loop. It seems to have booted OK while the battery was initially charged, then gone into the loop a few hours later. It loops even when plugged into the mains and/or USB.
Could water ingress in the past be causing it not to charge the battery ? Would it be best to try bigabyte to get it fixed ?
Many thanks for your help by the way.
Sorry Doc and Nobody, I didn't know. I will bring it in tomorrow, Old Chester Road !!!
Thanks again you guys, brilliant as always.
When my BB curve battery started draining unusually quickly, i discovered that when my young son was playing the games on the phone , he wasnt physically exiting the games , just pressing the red phone button to leave them , so some games and apps were running in the background. i went through all games and apps ,using the exit option , and since then , my battery has been ok.
