Im looking to get a 50" TV on xmas eve. Need to be able to get it in store as there is no chance of ordering for delivery in time.
What are my options in the area as far as stores go?

Im thinking:
Currys
Comet
Richer Sounds
Tesco
Best Buy

Any others?

Comet and try to get a free hdmi cable.

Also what TV do you want? Plasma/LED/LCD

Also budget?

50" Plasma to keep in the price range. Max £600. Ive been looking at the LG's. Samsungs seem to get back reviews.

If going for 50", you want Plasma. Go for Panasonic or Pinoeer.

To be honest I'd avoid LG plasmas too. As LG have a rep for a high failure rate.

Richer Sounds, Best Buy and John Lewis will price match "locally". Richer Sounds will also price match in-stock internet prices.

That you want to collect on Christmas Eve, you might be best going with someone that allows you to order online but collect in store: Tesco Direct, Best Buy, Currys, Comet and Argos all have "reserve and collect" facilities.

You want to be lookin at Panasonic tbh, LG's are a very understated make.

Remember ask for a freebie, then take it back at a later date and get the ££ back.

What about This Panny?

Richer Sounds for their warrantys alone, and as said, they will price match anywhere that has stock, be it online or in a shop.

Avoid the likes of Comet etc, unless you get an unbeatable deal. Check their prices for 5 year warranties as well - they are mega-expensive, whereas Richer Sounds are 10% of the price, an John Lewis are usually included in the price. As for a free HDMI cable; well a lot of TV's include them for free, and if not, you can get one for a few quid, so big wow about getting a free one lol.

The only problem with Richer at the moment is that their cheapest 50" is coming in at something like £800

Richer Sounds do both of them sets, for the same price;

http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/lg/50pk590/lg-50pk590 - The LG PK350 from Comet is actually just a cut-down version of the PK590. The LG in Richer Sounds has a FreeviewHD tuner, whereas the one in Comet has a standard non-HD Freeview tuner. It also has 4 HDMI sockets, whereas the one in Comet only has 2. The Comet model should b at least £50 - £100 cheaper than Richer Sounds in all honesty - but its the same price!

http://www.richersounds.com/product/plasma-tv/panasonic/viera-txp50x20/pana-txp50x20 - The Panny P50X20 once again, the very same price in Richer and in stock in both the Chester and Liverpool branches.

5 Year Warranty Comparison

Model - Richer - Comet
P50X20 - £49.90 - £164.99
PK590/350 - £64.90 - £254.99

Now you can see the massive difference in price after warranty.

I bought mine from Tescos. When the screen cracked they replaced it there and then, no questions asked!

Give Costco a call.
