Does anyone know if its possible to change the settings of your fan on a laptop,the problem is the fan is taking to long to kick in ive got a tohiba satallite p300 on windows vista

I think you do it in the bios??

When you start the laptop you can press something like F12 (it does say as it's booting) that will allow you to change settings.

Some laptops do let the processor get quite hot before switching on the fans - this is to extend the time the battery lasts.

I haven't seen a bios setting other than to enable the fan as continuous when on mains power, this doesn't mean that some don't have additional settings.

Why do you think it is coming on too late?

Because its over heating to f++k, at the moment you could use it has a radiator it gets that hot lol

Rivatuner is one program that you can change fan speeds onces in windows

My BIOS has temp settings, for when the fan comes on and also if it overheats, it shuts the computer down (80c+).
