I have 4 machines using Win XP. One came without a disk and all the back up on a hard disk partition. However the other 3 all had CD disks

Problem - I have all the disks but I do not know which disk "goes" with which machine.

How do I find out?

I am presuming that it is important to have the matched disk/ machine when doing a Windows reinstall

there is a program available that can retreive the cd key from your machine, you can then match the disc with cd key to the machine, try searching for xp key finder, cannot remember the exact name but it is something like jellybean,i think

I would imagine the computer would say if thr disc you put in does not match the original disc.
