In a nutshell you need to delete all the tv and radio channels from your channel list. Then go into the tuning part of the setup menu and choose 'Manuel tune'. Do a search on Channels 59,58,61,55 and 65. This is where the north west regional multiplexes (groups of channels) are and they should save to your channel list as you do each one.
Auto tune is no good if you can pick up more than one transmitter because it just saves everything that the ariel can pick up which includes all the welsh channels and jumbles them up.

I was quite hoping to see sheep porn on S4C.

I am very disappointed.

Aerial direction. I have one aerial facing north for ITV Yorkshire and another pointing SW for ITV Midlands. Once the signal strength is boosted gawd knows what will happen.

Read a report today that people in the Ribble Valley are getting Welsh TV. Techies say it is because the Welsh transmitter has a boosted signal because of the coverage it has to contend with and also the domestic aerial direction will have something to do with it as well. In Berlin, before the advent of British Forces Broadcasting Service TV, we used to get the back lobe of the AFN for TV (that's all we had then). It's all to do with Yagi aerial footprint, magnetic field etc.

You can get a 20db Variable Attenuator on Ebay for about £5.00 which will reduce your incoming signal. The problem is, Welsh channels are coming in strong and your box is picking the Welsh signals up first and putting them in on your channel list before the proper channels for the area.

If you are pointing at the Storeton Transmitter, this has English and Welsh channels since switch over.

Compounded with this is that some people pointing at Storeton are also pointing roughly in the direction of the Moel-Y-Parc the big Welsh transmitter.

The Wirral has always been poorly served for Terrestrial, with Winter Hill being the main provider which is at considerable distance. Storeton always was a mash-up and we have a couple of smaller transmitters (West Kirby and Bidston) to try and patch up some holes.

To my mind, Moel-y-parc have English added to it, Storeton, West Kirby and Bidston should be abandoned and a transmitter similar to Storeton should be placed at Flaybrick Water Tower.

The West Kirby transmitter is located in Caldy.

The Bidston Transmitter is located in Moreton.

If it was me I would try a manual retune of the TV, the English channels must be there but the auto tune picks up the strongest first and bunces the weaker ones further up the channels. I do it here because we can get Yorkshire or Midlands so I sort out my channels manually. Really looking forward to DAB radio, not!
